I play my version of his version of the song, in fingerstyle, that I learned back in the middle 60s. He says he learned it from Rev. Gary Davis.

Back in the 60s drugs were a more innocent thing, and there were fewer consequences, or so we thought. Nobody who sings this song today is advocating drug use, but the song is a lot of fun to sing and play, especially when I ham it up, ala Dave Van Ronk!
