In the book Tree of Strings is quoted a tale from O'Neill's Memoirs how Ruairi Dall O'Cathain was visiting Scotland. He was in the house of 'Lady Eglintoun' and she demanded a tune, and he stomped off offended. The lady was conciliatory and he composed the tune for her.
The suggested date of the event is 1617. Another source of the same story is 1792 by Denis O Hemsey at the Belfast meeting of harpers.
