There has to be an attack..CNN has their slogans and logos all designed.

And all those carriers sitting in the area filled with supplies...it's too expensive to just leave them there indefinitely, and they'd look silly sailing home after doing nothing.

And the UN inspector have found NOTHING!...Don't you see? That proves Saddam has hidden everything so well that we MUST blow up half of Iraq to be sure!

IF we attack, and IF Saddam is toppled, and IF no real WMDs are found, I am concerned about what will happen. Will evidence be faked? Will we be shown photos of "poison gas factories" and be told what a catastrophe that GW averted with his aggressive righteousness?

.....and yes, this thread is not funny, and I am not laughing. I am, like many, (including veteran newsmen) amazed by the direction this is going and the logic being employed. Most of the rest of the world is shaking their heads in disbelief that we are attempting to unseat a government, no matter how distasteful it may be, in this manner.

(and for the record, I too wonder if the State of the Union speech and the Superbowl are not prime considerations for timing)

no bet for me....I could not spend any money I won this way.

And what will we do IF we make such a stupid mistake and it is found out? (Like "arms for hostages" and "Iran-Contra")
