I don't think there's any Thaxted connection at all. Straw bear was revived almost singlehandedly by Brian Kell (ex Stevenage Sword, ex Sallyport etc. etc.) when he moved to Whittlesey from Stevenage.

Thaxted has a big Morris Ring meeting, but Straw Bear isn't a Morris Ring do (in fact, most of the Molly sides belong to Open Morris).
