Did you read that article of his, Taliesn, written, it would appear, a year before all this blew up? I think it suggests a rather different picture from that presented there.

"Obviously" just means "I have a strong opinion about this" - it just says something about the person using it. But because of the structure of lanuage it seems to be saying something about the person or situation under consideration.
