Thread Name: Origins: Union Miners / Miner's Lifeguard
Subject: ADD Version: MINER'S LIFEGUARD^^
I sing it as recorded by the Welsh singer Siwsann George.

MINER'S LIFEGUARD

A miner's life is like a sailor's,
Aboard a ship to cross the waves,
Every day his life's in danger
Still he ventures, being brave.
Watch the rocks they're falling daily,
Careless miners always fail.
Keep your hand upon your wages,
And your eyes upon the scale.

chorus
Union miners stand together,
Do not heed the owner's tale,
Keep your hand upon your wages,
And your eyes upon the scale.

You've been docked and docked again, boys,
You've been loading two for one,
What have you to show for workin',
When your mining days are done.
Worn out boots, and worn out miners,
Lungs of stone and children pale.
Keep your hand upon your wages,
And your eyes upon the scale.

chorus
Union miners stand together,
Do not heed the owner's tale,
Keep your hand upon your wages,
And your eyes upon the scale.

There is a third verse, but only the first two are the ones I usually sing, so they came to mind. I have it all written down somewhere, but a quick search through a trunk of music didn't spot it. If no one else comes up with the third verse, I will look for it again.
