Thanks for noticing this Tweed! We are all proud of the work that Bob has donen to earn this award.   In fact, all of us are proud of WFDU!

We began broadcasting a format we call "Music America" back in 1980 (the same year that I started "Traditions"). Music America focused on the presenting traditional music - folk, blues, bluegrass, country and ethnic programs.   Over the years the format has evolved and "Across the Tracks" really was an offshoot - a blend of blues, R&B and jazz. When Bob joined the staff, his blues roots began showing!   It is quite an honor and he makes us all proud.

WFDU continues to present programs that offer bluegrass, country, blues and of course folk music to the New York City area (as well as the internet!). Other radio stations have come along and began calling themselves "folk", but if you listen you will see the difference.   I'm not knocking anyone here, I always think that the more the merrier - you can't perpetuate the music by yourself!

I hope some of you will check us out - either at 89.1FM if you are in the NYC area, or on the internet at WWW.WFDU.FM

Thanks for listening to my "non-commercial" interuption!

Ron

P.S. - We begin our annual fund drive in February! If you have a few dollars to spare (I wish we all did!), please don't forget us!
