Richard H, the silly name of the sample thread wasn't aimed at you! You signed your name. (It's anonymous guests who usually are spoken of disparagingly, if they come here to troll.) If you want to send your friend directly to the exact quote via something like email, then take a look at the address that appears when you mouse over the names in the top of the thread you want to quote from. For example, I want to send someone a story Don Firth extracted from a memoir I hope he'll publish one of these days. On the top address line in Internet Explorer you'll see the usual:
http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=54575

and when you mouse over his name in the top index of posts, you'll see (in the bottom address line in Internet Explorer) that IN ADDITION you'll find the location in the thread, or #846879. Put it all together

http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=54575#846879 and you have a very precise URL to the exact link you want your friend to read. It doesn't drop you at the top of the thread, it takes you to the exact post.

I've made it into a link here. I should have taken the trouble to do this yesterday. It saves confusion.
