Richard, Canadians have done and said so many extraordinary things that it would make your head swim! Considering the small population in this country, it's a downright amazing place for creativity at times. There was a point when the majority of the finest professional folksingers in the more modern folk genre were from Canada...such as Gordon Lightfoot (from my own town of Orillia), Joni Mitchell, Ian & Sylvia, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Bruce Cockburn. The one we just missed getting by a stone's throw was Dylan...he grew up not too far south of the Canadian border in Minnesota. If he'd been Canadian, I predict it would have taken him 3 to 4 more weeks to make it big. :-)

We have also made a notable contribution to the ranks of top comedians which far outweighs our meager population base, as compared to the USA. You gotta do something to relieve the long winters, you see, so people dream up all kinds of neat stuff. They inevitably go south and make it big in the USA at some point.
