It seemed more than that yesterday Bill ..... I could get some of my regular sites to work .... amazingly Mudcat was one..... but others (eg Age Concern)wouldn't work at all.

That seems to indicate that the problem was not just with Google but was possilby an overload problem with the net in general and depended on how you were being routed to a site.
