Peter T... Your post reminded me of a great novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude . In it, a plague of forgetfulness descends on the land. Soon people are forgetting the names of every thing, and one clever fellow decides to place tags on every object, so that people will remember the names, like "rock", "tree", "cow","grandmother", etc. This works extremely well until everyone begins to forget how to read.
