I avoid LA whenever possible on cross-country trips; when I do have to drive through, I try for really odd hours, like at 2 in the morning.
It sounds like a wonderful visit in San Diego. Noxema will make the sunburn feel better. I hope this trip has done your heart some good, as well as adding a little vitamin D to your system and tan to your epidermis.
