Kim & Jim Lansford credit as their source a recording by Asa Martin and the Cumberland Rangers, which appeared on the album "Dr. Ginger Blue," Rounder LP 0034 (1974), which is apparently out of print.

This page lists a cassette called "Timely Tunes from Ill-Mo and Beyond" by a string band called the Ill-Mo Boys which also contains "The Death of Edward Hawkins."
