An interesting thread would be about those occasions when any of us have been caught out exaggerating. I can well remember being late home from school -- playing with a kid friend -- and when my mother was about to come down on me like a whirlwind, I told her that the school bus had broken down, tires burst,and that was why I was two hours late getting home. Great, got away with it, until later that week, when she just happened to be in the school and was standing there talking to me, and the bus driver came by.
