Among much else, The Fiddlers' Companion states:

"The earliest printing of St. Anne's [Reel] appears to be in the Jarman collections of the 1930's and 1940's, where arrangement is credited to John Burt with a copyright date of 1937."

The Jarman collections are Canadian tunebooks. I doubt if the reel reached Ireland (or Scotland and England, where it is played quite as much) until the 1970s, but one never knows.
