I thought once it might be satisfying to start a church on the basis of the "Most Wonderful Thing," where people would come together once a week and share good food and make music together and celebrate the thing in the past week that brought them the most wonder.

Out here under Wyoming's amazing skies, wonder comes easily. I think it's a lousy week if I haven't had at least two or three heartfelt "Thank you's" as I walk my dogs or drive around the "neighborhood." Sort of in keeping with "The Color Purple," although I must say I was practicing my particular brand of faith before Alice Walker codified it for us. The Church of the Holy Thank You.

(But then, I'm one of those cynical romantics, don'cha know? Getting more cynical and less romantic as time clomps by, but we all know that cynics are just heartbroken romantics...)
