The Friendly Giant. YES! Used to watch that one every day as a kid.

With Rusty, the vaguely frightening rooster who lived in a sack on the wall in which he kept his harp and Friendly's other recorder.
And of course, Gerome, the purple and orange giraffe with the voice and mannerisms of Lee Marvin, and who used to dance around like a stoner at Woodstock while Friendly and Rusty and the cats would jam on some old English hornpipe or something. It all go so much better with beer and pot, watching the reruns in University residence years later...

Another cartoon I remember from my childhood and would love to see once more to see why I liked it, The New Adventures of Huck Finn. It had Huck, Tom & Becky as real-live kids, interacting with cartoon characters. I think Becky might have been my first crush or something.

Another one I remember liking (and pretending to play with my friends) was Danger Island which was a short adventure series that usually aired during the Banana Splits.

"Uh oh!... CHONGO!"
