Yesterday, though warm, we had some good winds. I keep my bedroom windows open at night to hear the river and our bed is right by the windows. Yesterday the sound of the wind woke me and I lifted my head to see.

There up in the wind was a poor little tern beating it's wings madly and going nowhere. Just sitting there in the air, in one spot. I think if he stopped beating his wings he would have been blown backward toward NY.

Reminded me of the white queen in "Through the Looking Glass". Had to keep running just to stay where she was.

It's a wonderful morning, but I think we're in for a storm. I just put on coffee and Glenn has gone to weed the garden of an older friend of ours. So here I am at the Mudcat.
