Hello. I'm brainstorming for a song about someone travelling around the US as a modern pilgrim, and looking for suggestions for places for her to go.
I'm not thinking necessarily of religious places, but rather places of cultural, historical, or natural significance that people go to with the mindset of pilgrims. If you really don't know what I'm talking about I could attempt a definition, but for now I'll stick to examples. In my recent trip to Germany, for example, I went to the castles as a tourist but to Beethoven's house as a pilgrim. Some US sites I've already thought of are the Vietnam Wall, the California redwoods, Graceland, Walden Pond...
What about Area 51? Is it a place people can visit, or is it a big secret where it is?
