I've heard tapes from early in the Keith and Donna era where Jerry sang the whole song including the muddy waters verse. It did probably go back to Mother MacCree's jug champions or possibly even the Sleepy Hollow Hog Stompers circa 1962.


I've not heard that verse elsewhere regarding Clarksdale or anywhere else, so thanks for the clarification
