The virus can live for four or more days outside the body. The growth rate has not been brought under control. The mutation rate may be high. Now of course I don't think the sky is falling, but Bejjing, a city of 14 million, is almost shutdown. India has been inspired to say it has no cases when it used to have 19.
No, of course this isn't anything like AIDS or Ebola, but the death rate is far, far higher than West Nile, and the economic impact is already staggering, and growing.
