Thread Name: Lyr Req: How Many Miles to Dublin Town?
Subject: DTADD: How Many Miles To London Town?
Folk Songs of Old New England has this:

HOW MANY MILES TO LONDON TOWN?

How many miles to Londom town?
Four-score and ten!
Can I get there by candle-light?
Yes! and back again!

Open the gate and let me pass!
Toll first you pay!
I have no gold, what shall I do?
Turn and go away.

The players form two lines, facing each other across a wide space. One player stands in the middle. At the end of the rhyme, the players run from side to side, and those caught by the one in the center must help catch the others until all are caught.

Is it a different version of the same song? There's a song called "How Many Miles to Beth-e-le-hem" in Ruth Crawford Seeger's American Folk Songs for Christmas but I can't find the blankety-blank book just now.
