I grew up on a small peanut farm in Tidewater Virginia. In the late 1940s and early 1950s many hours were spent in fields beside an Afro-American field hand in his 40s. He used the word copacetic regularly to suggest everything was fine or in working order. Now I regret not asking where he got the word.
