Fogarty's Cove and Fogarty's Head are located a few miles from the town of Canso, where the Stanfest is held. They do exist and are located between Queensport and Canso. Lazy Head and Half Island also lie on this stretch of coastline.
This is a direct quote from Stan in his songbook:
" For some strange reason , government maps of Chedabucto Bay, Nova Scotia, show the place that I think of as Fogarty's Cove as being called Indian Cove. A lot they know."
The place that dosen't exist is Make And Break Harbour. That name came from the old put-put engines (the one-lunger) that most fishermen used in earlier days. It was chosen to apply to any fishing community along that shore.
