Thread Name: Lyr Req: Crazy Feeling (Etta James)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Crazy Feeling - (Etta James)
Here are the results of my research:
First I noticed that several web sites refer to "Crazy Feeling (aka Do Something Crazy)"
Then I learned, from this Etta James discography that she first recorded "Good Rockin' Daddy / Crazy Feeling" in 1955 on the Modern label (Modern 962), and then it was apparently re-released as "Do Something Crazy / Good Rockin' Daddy" on the Kent label (Kent 370) in 1960.
According to BMI, the title is "Do Something Crazy" and the songwriters are Etta James and Jules Taub.
AMG doesn't list "Crazy Feeling" but it does list "Do Something Crazy" as appearing on the following albums:
Good Rockin' Mama [81]
Good Rockin' Mama/Tuff Lover [85]
R&B Queen [86]
R&B Dynamite [87]
Hickory Dickory Dock [98]
The last one is still in print as a CD: see Yahoo! Shopping > Music.
I wasn't able to find complete lyrics, but I transcribed the following from a sound sample:...and you can't eat.
Oh, but when that crazy feeling comes,
It just won't let you sleep.
Yes, that feeling, that bad, that old feeling,
Yes, to do something crazy.
Well, that feeling (Ooh, that feeling)
That old feeling (Ooh, that feeling)
Makes you want...
I wonder what she's talking about here: suicide? self-mutilation? violence?
