The song is attributed to Maddy Prior (see 1999 thread on this subject answered by "BAZ"). I just thought it was unusual to hear a song better known in English song circles on German fernsehen. BTW just had a great day in 30 degree C weather running all over the woods and hills of Stuttgart ... found out that there's a Irish Pub (O'Reilley's) may have an Open Mic on Mondays ... I'll let you know.
