I'm sorry to be such a blabber mouth but I love these discussions.

I think that in terms of folk popularity, Bradley Kincaid may have a "trained voice" against him. It didn't seem to hurt Buell Kazee, however.

Carson Robison I believe was a legit cowboy. Bradley took on it's mantle but I've always loved his singing regardless as to whether he just donned a Stetson or not. I especially like "The Santa Barbara Earthquake" and of course the "Prisoner's Song". I think "Gentleman" Gene Autry (one of my faves) owes a good deal to these performers.

I'm sorry that I'm not familiar with Bill Clifton. I'm sure I've missed something.
