Subject: Lyr Add: BREAKFAST IN MY BED ON SUNDAY...(Lauder)
Lismor Recordings, Glasgow, Preservation Series, Scotland's Stars on 78, has reissued a number of his songs on CD, including "Breakfast In Bed", "Roamin' in the Gloamin'", "A Wee Deoch-an-Doris", "Wee Hoose 'mang the Heather" and "Soosie Maclean", some of my father's favorites in the 30's.

BREAKFAST IN MY BED ON SUNDAY MORNIN'
Words by Gerald Grafton and Harry Lauder, music by Harry Lauder.

I never, never worry and I never, never grieve.
I take things very easy; what I canna take, I leave,
I work the whole week round frae early morn till late at night,
In Saturday I eagerly look forward wae delicht

CHORUS: To beautiful Sunday; I wish it would never come Monday,
For I lie between the sheets, my bed adornin'.
O it's very nice! yes, it's very, very nice
To get yer breakfast in yer bed on Sunday mornin'.

What joy, what great delicht it is to hear the kirk bells ring!
I wouldn't miss their welcome sound, no, not for anything.
When they commence to ring I rise
(Aye, and I go an' I have a good squint out of the windae),
But if it looks like rain,
I fill my pipe, then licht it, and go back to bed again.

Spoken: Aye, mon, and it's a terrible thing to lie here among the blankets, especially on a frosty mornin'. Oh, did ever any of you chaps ever waken on a beautiful Sunday mornin' about half past six and then open your eyes—aye, if you were able to open them—and there you're lyin' there, you know. Did ye ever lie there and realize that ye didn't have to rise and go to your work? Isn't that a lovely feelin'? Oh, mon, oh dear, oh it's lovely, mon. You lie there, you know, and you hear the canaries singin' in the room, you know. Aye, and the wife she's in the kitchen, you know, washin' the dishes—and breakin' them—aye, and you're lying in your bed, you know, and you can hear the ham and eggs skirlin' in the pan, oh, mind, I'm tellin' ye—
