Rustic, I don't know what sort of answer LH can give to your question about dachshunds, but from my own observation of one (neutered male) I can assure you that at least the head of the non-erect can suffer "rug rash" from a variety of sources. I understand also, from very recent information, that if the skin of a dachshund's penis is inadvertantly sewn into the stitches of a stomach operation the dog becomes uncomfortable and can even go off his feed.
