I find that NOT making fuss at all is the best way to do anything for/with a cat. Putting on collars, giving medicine. If you act like it's a big deal, they respond accordingly and won't let you catch them.

We don't use flea collars--there are products out there that are much more effective and comprehensive. Ask your vet about Revolution--it takes care of fleas, ticks, earmites, heartworm, probably a few others, with one monthly application on the back of the neck where the cat can't lick. I use it for 6 to 8 months a year, during the most active flea and mosquito season.
