I'm seeking lyrics to two songs: Fisherman's Lassie and An Irishman is Shy.

Fisherman's Lassie starts out:

I'm a ramalin' tamalin' fa la doo ma dee
I'm a ramalin' tamalin' lassie
I'm a ramalin' tamalin' fa la doo ma dee
And they call me the fisherman's lassie

The something like..

Well, my Johnny he's a fisherman
You'll ne'er find anyone bolder
and something about straps across his shoulders

An Irishman is Shy, the chorus goes:

Ah, me, fiddle dee diddle dee dee
When it comes to marrying an Irishman is shy

Anybody have these song lyrics and could share??

Thanks, Rose

Subject: Lyr Add: FISHERMAN'S LASSIE (from Isla St. Clair)
From: Malcolm Douglas

THE FISHERMAN'S LASSIE

Oh the Fisherman is a bold young man
You'll never find anyone bolder
He wears his seaboots over his knees
And his straps across his shoulders.

Chorus:

I'm a ramblin' tamblin' fol-the-do-a-day
I'm a ramblin' tamblin' lassie
I'm a ramblin' tamblin' fol-the-do-a-day
And they call me the Fisherman's Lassie.

I will dress myself in my Sunday best
I will make myself look bonny
And then I will hie me tae the quay
To greet my fair young Johnny.

This version from the singing of Isla St. Clair, who said of it in her radio programme Tatties And Herrin': Songs from the NorthWest of Scotland (BBC Radio 2, 7th. June 1995): "My grandmother, Marge(?) MacDonald from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, told me how she'd sing (The Fisherman's Lassie) while standing on the quay at Stornoway, waiting for the boats to come in."

Malcolm

I've got a version of "Fisherman's Lassie" that pretty closely matches Malcom's... Can't help with the other song, but I will refresh the thread.
