I just checked the Data base & couldn't pull it up So I'm asking does any one have the lyrics to "Let's go Fly a Kite"
I know it's not the type of stuff one usually looks for here but, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out. I'd even like to get a recording of it.
Thanks Charcloth

And here is the verse to add to the chorus in Masato's website:

With tuppence for paper and string
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground you're a bird in flight
With your fist holding tight to the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh, let's go fly a kite
etc.

There is another verse, which may or may not come back to me...

Thank ya kindly. My grandfather used to give all of us kids kites every spring, & my sister reminded me of that the other day. Thanks again Charcloth

Hi ya'll

I like the song and I'll pass it on to me dad.
David Chandler fell in love with kites when he was in the occupying forces in japan in the late 40's working as an interpreter.
During my childhood he made mean amazing boxkite from a roll of Japanese silk he had brough home from his timein Japan.
After a frustrating life working for an oil company and playing piano in the evenings to provide a little extra he got to retire at 55-- all of 25 years ago. Since then he has travelled the world as a kitemaker- One of his kites spent time at the Smithsonian institute whilst anothe travelled the world during our bicentenial celebrations and was signed by Kite club members throughout the world before being presented to Australia .
During the last 25yreashas travelled all over the world as as kite artist. He is kalled Takeshi Sensai in Japan- I think thats right--- Kite Master--. He has held kite workshops in hundred of Australian schools- including the school of the air which provides an education for children in outback Australia living hundreds of miles fromany kind of town.
A couple of years ago we worked out that he had helped children build 23 thousand kites.
Any of you who have met David will be pleased to know he is 80 years old and although almost blind with retinitis pigmentosa he still drives-(in daylight) all over Tasmania to hold kite workshops. Still plays 3or more gigs a week on the ragtime piano. He still has a fabulous organic vegetable garden, makes his own Yoghurt and kambulture tea and does 20 press ups before bed every night.
Kindest regards
Michael

Partial second verse (from memory, but as a prompt to others)

"When you send it soaring up there,
All at once you're lighter than air"

"You can dance on the breze,
Over houses and trees"

???

(Anyone with the Mary Poppins soundtrack/songbook ?)

Nigel
