When and where did I first encounter the parody? Actually, I first remember singing this song in the library at school with my highschool girlfriends long before I ever heard of Barney....say 1983ish. Any information on when the I Love You song came about???

As for second graders vehemently disliking Barney, I'd like to add that I've heard children as young as 3-4 years old exclaim, "I don't like Barney...he's CREEPY!"   LOL...out of the mouth of babes!   :)
