Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: GUEST,RB-1 Date: 24 Aug 12 - 06:35 PM Too bad we had too leave early on the Saturday, right after playing our set with Bram Taylor. We had a boat to catch. But what a great time we had! The weekend before we played at Saltburn Folk Festival. Since we've got ourselves some tentative bookings next July, we're not sure we can make it next year (We can't stay in England all summer :-( ) Bruno |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: MBSLynne Date: 24 Aug 12 - 07:58 AM Had another great weekend. The Loft seemed a bit more sparsely populated than previously, possibly due to there being so many things to do. If anyone wants to post suggestions or feedback on the Loft programme specifically I would be happy to hear it. Thanks Love Lynne |

We let Son and Daughter I-L have the wristbands, seeing as we were grandson sitting a lot, but still enjoyed the atmosphere, site, music, beer tent and averyting that went on. Lovely little site and very well self-contained. I shall certainly consider going again and recommend it to friends as well. Thaks for all everyone. Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: GUEST,AEOLA Date: 20 Aug 12 - 06:14 PM My first time at Moira and all I can say is it was brilliant. The weather probably helped but the atmosphere was buzzing with happy people. The site is beautiful, everything seemed to run smoothly thanks to the organisation and stewards. The performers all seemed to enjoy themslves. I'll be back!! |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: My guru always said Date: 20 Aug 12 - 04:41 PM What a fabulous weekend, a huge thankyou to all the good people who have given us another successful and very special Festival with an excellent lineup! I was very impressed with all the organisation and the fantastic work of the volunteers. Especially so to the guys looking after the campsite on Friday afternoon who knew exactly who I was an where a space had been saved for us after our long journey from Surrey - fantastic!!! I'll post the 'name & shame' Mudgather Register when I have more time tomorrow, but I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. There may not have been many of us, but we made a good noise & had lots of chocolate! I must confess that I didn't leave my feedback form so is there an address I can post it to? And for those who didn't pick up a feedback form, could one be printed from the website? Hope everyone got home safely! |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: OlgaJ Date: 20 Aug 12 - 03:14 PM I still don't know who most of you are but the comments say it all. Sorry if the mudgather was a bit sparse but for a small event there was so much to see and do! Really pleased the session on Sunday night in the bar in the Railway went well. We genuinely intended to come but we had a massive family and friends barbecue and after the walking up and down site all weekend we chickened out and did a session in the beer tent which turned out to be really good (lots of silly stuff towards the end)Thanks to everyone who contributed in whatever way. It takes every one of you to make an event like this so good. Looking forward to next year already. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 20 Aug 12 - 02:12 PM Don, that was an even better decision seeing as how the M25 was seriously backed up today (1.5 hour delays)! Fortunately, we didn't have to go that far and the M1 to Luton/Dunstable was fine and fast. Really enjoyed both of your contributions to the singaround, mudgather, and yours at Dave's workshop. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 20 Aug 12 - 01:16 PM We missed the rain, having made a snap decision to leave yesterday afternoon when our gas cylinder spluttered to a halt. It seemed sensible at the time, and more so when the trip home at a steady sixty took just 2hrs 30mins (almost unheard of down M1/M25). Thanks to everybody for the wonderful experience of our first Moira. Great to see old friends, Lynne Tann Watson, Hilary and Dave and Julia, along with many others. We thoroughly enjoyed a musical, if small, Mudgather, and the singaround on Saturday at the Railway. Special thanks to the unfailingly cheerful and caring stewards, who were such a pleasant part of a first class festival. See you all next year for sure! Don & Winnie T. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Acorn4 Date: 20 Aug 12 - 12:35 PM Green Man - I've just emailed Colin Grantham your query as he says he'll post the details up on here ASAP. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Wheatman Date: 20 Aug 12 - 10:45 AM The Kells had a great time,a small but perfectly formed event. We like the small events now and the drive back this morning was a dream . A little one as good as Moira,in the spring,in East Anglia would be brilliant. Well done all involved, we know how hard it can be. Gan Canny Brian, Christine and Timo (the cat). |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Green Man Date: 20 Aug 12 - 09:09 AM I had a lively weekend, but need the contact info for the CD stall, so if anyone knows their phone details or address it would be greatly appreciated. GM |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 20 Aug 12 - 08:51 AM Agree totally, Splott Man! Has to be one of the best, if not THE best festival out there. Certainly it is the one we book as soon as possible. Next years already looks like it is shaping up as another great weekend. Even packing up the tent in the rain this morning didn't put a damper on it--though I might revise that a bit once I get the darn thing out again to dry it off! Oh, and thanks MGAS for the mudgather. Shame it was a little sparse this year, but some wonderful songs nonetheless. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Splott Man Date: 20 Aug 12 - 03:48 AM Thank you to all concerned. What a wonderful festival it is; great setting with well organised stewards, good beer at a reasonable price, and a comfortable campsite (no mud or steep slopes!). Splott Man |

Plus having time with grandsons at their events will be fun. Hope to arrive by 3pm tomorrow, Now then - Any last minute guidance for a) Where to pitch the tent (Twigged not to near the late night marquee but may need the loos closish - but not within smelling range :-) - coz of mini-people.) b) What ticket events are a must. c) Anything else anyone would care to share :-) Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Monologue Man Date: 12 Aug 12 - 11:37 AM All tickets, including day tickets, for Moira Furnace Folk Festival have now been sold. To overcome the problem of noise disturbing other campers we have put a small marquee on the campsite for use by singers and musicians who want to play late into the night. So if you want to be quiet then camp well away from this marquee! |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: My guru always said Date: 10 Aug 12 - 06:17 AM MM, very kind of you to answer my question, I was confused, that's easily done these days *sigh* WW: Anywhere on the campsite will be good, everyone at Moira is lovely! Quick question though, is there a 'quiet' area this year? I recall that we disturbed some youngsters a couple of years ago. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 10 Aug 12 - 03:53 AM This year we are camping for the first time (we were going to last year but, having just moved house and being in the middle of a total renovation project, we decided to do a B&B). Does anyone have suggestions about where on the camping field is better, or parts to avoid? Is there a "mudcat corner" or anything like that? |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2012 From: Monologue Man Date: 10 Aug 12 - 02:59 AM You will still be able to get the discounted rate as you have festival weekend tickets already. I will inform the treasurer that you require two discounted Navvy's Wife tickets when you book in. |
