Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: BusyBee Paul Date: 16 Oct 08 - 05:48 AM Me too!. (Minibus, sunshine and curry). BBP [Not to be confused with Currie!] |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 16 Oct 08 - 05:08 AM Minibus sounds like a great idea, Paul (three seats, please) - in fact, can it come and collect us from home? Never mind the sunshine, order a full Indian summer (complete with curry). |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Hamish Date: 16 Oct 08 - 04:49 AM Sunshine? Should be okay so long as you still get the -6 degrees overnight temperatures to freeze the gas bottles. But, yes, the minibus sounds like a brilliant idea. Mark me down as a definite for that! -- Hamish |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 16 Oct 08 - 04:21 AM .....these things are sent to try us! After losing our original venue as detailed above it now transpires that the replacement venue (Kirkby Fleetham Village Hall) is double booked for the Friday night. After much frantic ringing round and visiting local pubs (not all bad news then!) we have found a replacement venue FOR THE FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY. This is Leeming Village Hall which is about 4 miles from Kirkby Fleetham. For those staying in Burneston & Leeming Bar, it is actually closer.... and it shouldn't make any difference to the "locals" for those bringing vans to Kirkby Fleetham we are thinking of hiring a minibus to ferry people there and back (so that imbibing can still take place!). This would probably involve a small (£1-£2 cost). It would be helpful if people could let me know if they think this is a good idea. Finalising bar arrangements for Leeming, though there is a (open!) pub about 100yds from Leeming VH. All other arrangements remain as they were and the rest of the weekend will take place in Kirby Fleetham Village Hall. Any questions, please drop me a line or give me a call on the usual contacts which can be found here . Should still be a great weekend.... and I've ordered sunshine this time around! Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 14 Oct 08 - 03:57 PM Deirdre....hey it worked that banjo rain dance! Jen, the only serious snow I saw this year was on our way back from our gig at your place in April.....in Kent! I have no doubt the weather will be glorious (inside) at the BBB! Looking forward to seeing you both. Still 22 tickets left......but very few of the locals have bought theirs yet. Paul |

Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: BusyBee Paul Date: 14 Oct 08 - 12:11 PM Jen, don't get Paul involved in the weather - please!. At Ingleton earlier this month he asked for rain so that everyone would scurry indoors to see Blind Summat - we fairly near drowned!. :-) Deirdre |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: wrotham-arms-jen Date: 14 Oct 08 - 12:07 PM well, no sad faces here hamish....we can't wait...counting the days in fact...except a tad worried about the weather up there in the tundra...can you do something 'bout that paul? jen x |

Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Hamish Date: 24 Sep 08 - 08:17 AM Spurious message masquerading as a refresh... ...got a new killer song on the looper which I'll be including in the looping workshop. Mostly the workshop will be participative, but this will be one of the "showpiece" numbers. Oh, and: "refresh!"!! -- Hamish |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 15 Sep 08 - 09:12 AM 21st-23rd Feb as things stand. I have another pub interested in running a weekend as well......large single room bar, room for a marquee in the garden and a field at the back for camping/ vans. B & B as well. There is a possibility that the Feb date might be moved back to take advantage of this. We'll see how this Saturday goes in the village hall before we make decisions. Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: stallion Date: 13 Sep 08 - 05:50 PM ok Paulo, we shall be up for the singaround, need to get the dates for feb as Ron now spends much of his time out of the country (California last week Shanghi this week!) |

Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Hamish Date: 06 Sep 08 - 12:19 PM Paul: I think Pete was angling for a gig with Jen. And why not? I was hoping to bend her ear at the BBB for the same purpose! (And when I say "bend her ear" I know what I'm talking about!) ~8^) |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 06 Sep 08 - 04:10 AM Jen, you'll enjoy Gerry, he's on with Dunc & Anne at the BBB as well. Pete, I've got 2BS&S pencilled for the February bash.... plenty of singaround time in November though. You know that I've had to cut down the number of acts with the change of venue. Anyone else coming? |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: stallion Date: 05 Sep 08 - 07:29 PM 2BS&S? |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: wrotham-arms-jen Date: 05 Sep 08 - 09:35 AM thanks paul and ruth, gosh, there's a lot going on up there ... no wonder there are so many fantastic musicians in yorks - i like to think of it as north broadstairs. gerry mcneice is the next musician to make the great trek down here. duncan - i would like to make a request for woodshed boys :) see y'all in november! jen |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: The Greyt Hound Date: 04 Sep 08 - 09:28 AM Don't forget Croxdale on the Tuesday night. On 18th November 1- Chris Milner with special guest Anita Jardine that should be a good night. Look forward to seeing you again Jen. Ruth |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 03 Sep 08 - 12:27 PM Jen, You should come to Burneston on either of the Wednesdays (singaround only and our other "local").....you can park your van there as well. You've also got: The Sun in Stockton on Mondays, The Guisboro' clubs on Fridays and Sundays, Black Swan in York on Thursdays.......loads more as well! Paul |

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new - especially bingo and poacher :) No - am not going to open the pub - this is a HOLIDAY - may have to do some local beer research while in yorks though hehehehe Does anyone know of any other clubs meeting in the area the week before or after? Jen |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 03 Sep 08 - 05:47 AM tickets still going well......please don't assume you will get in on the door, I have to be pretty strict about numbers in the village hall apparently. Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 21 Aug 08 - 12:43 PM Hope we'll get to meet again all those great people from Bedale, Bristol, Castelton and elswhere who were at the last bash. This time Whipstaff might put in a bit of practice beforehand (and memorise all the words!). |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 21 Aug 08 - 11:37 AM ....Hamish, no need to remind people what we've lost, what about what we've got left! Dunc AND Anne (and I hear Gerry McNeice is the 3rd member of this duo)!!!! Marie Little, Mary Humphreys and Ananhata, Mrs Banjiman AND her band (That's Blind Summat! looks like I might finally get a gig at our own club if I'm good!), Brother Crow, Bill Lloyd, Ian McKone, Jim Potter, Tony Levy.....and some guy called Hamish as long as he stops the negative publicity!!!!! Lots of opportunities for informal singing and playing too. (By the way I expect to re-book all of those (who need the gig) I've had to cancel during next year or so's programme). Just a reminder that the tickets are going quickly (more than 50% gone) .... and we've got 2 club nights between now and November. Tickets can be purchased at the bottom of this page! Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: BusyBee Paul Date: 21 Aug 08 - 08:55 AM Hamish & Dunc: You've not lost me yet though guys! Keep trying! Deirdre ;-) |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Hamish Date: 20 Aug 08 - 04:36 PM Dunx: Yes, I know who Anne is. It was that this was the first post for a few months following the down-sizing due to the oub closure, and I knew you were to be there, but I wasn't sure if Anne was still on the booked guests list. (We've lost a few, like The Hut People and Kim Guy and Last Night's Fun, after all...) -- Hamish |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: stallion Date: 20 Aug 08 - 02:03 PM got a slot for 2BS&S? |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: HipflaskAndy Date: 20 Aug 08 - 01:23 PM Just noticed the 'question mark' on an earlier Hamish post. The 'who's on' mentions Duncan McFarlane & Anne Brivonese and Hamish types.... Duncan McFarlane (& Anne Brivonese?) Must be Hamish doesn't recognise her name, I guess? It's right there on the CD credits of those CDs of ours that you bought Hammy-lad. She's the DMcF Band fiddle player! See you there matey - cheers - Dunc |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 20 Aug 08 - 12:10 PM Deidre - no pretentions on that score! If I was that good I'd be a folk icon like Mr Knightley (and, except for the long blonde hair, Jools looks nothing like Phil Beer - thank god). |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: BusyBee Paul Date: 20 Aug 08 - 10:51 AM Leveller - you'd have to go some to beat Show of Hand's wee ditty!. I look forward to hearing your version. :-) Deirdre |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 19 Aug 08 - 11:58 AM Bingo, following Ruth's comment about longdogs and poachers sounding like a song, Jools and I have written one with that title. Just working out the mandolin and octave mandola accompaniment but hope to perform it at BBB, if not sooner, and also do a mandolin and guitar version of Whipstaff and the Worktop Demon (just bear in mind that the worktop demon is a cat!). Suzy the Whipstaff will send you a sausage. |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: The Greyt Hound Date: 19 Aug 08 - 10:19 AM I have you Banjoman I can trace my lineage really, really far back. I am sure that one sausage would do me..... Big woofs Bingo |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: BusyBee Paul Date: 19 Aug 08 - 09:06 AM I'm sure that sausages must be a "man" thing. This girlie (and lots of my girlie friends) just don't go mad about them. Perhaps it's too much meat all in one go!. Or maybe........................ Nah, shan't go there!. ;-) Deirdre |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 18 Aug 08 - 12:09 PM Mmmm - sounds great, Paul. I can already feel the pounds piling on. |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 18 Aug 08 - 11:33 AM Leveller.....difference is that this time the producers of said sausages are also providibg the full catering for the weekend (3 meals a day for those who want them), which means that we don't have to! A percentage of what they take will also go back into KFFC coffers, which means more events in the future. Hamish, you should be in marketing.... maybe The Leveller can get you a job? Bingo.....even though I now you a pure bred racing Greyhound (retired), I'm afraid these sausages are just too good for you! Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Hamish Date: 17 Aug 08 - 08:57 AM Big Birthday Bash best bangers. Brilliant! |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: theleveller Date: 17 Aug 08 - 05:40 AM Sausages were great last time. Can't afford to buy the pub this week - might just save up enough for a couple of pints, though, as our holiday in Northumberland was cancelled due to a flooded campsite (yes, we were going up there after Pickering) - dontcha just love the British summers? |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: The Greyt Hound Date: 16 Aug 08 - 06:48 PM Sounds tasty. I love sausages. I can't wait. Bingo |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 16 Aug 08 - 12:28 PM Food for the weekend will be provided by one of our local organic farmers.... who produces the best pork (including sausages) I've ever tasted. A culinary aa well as musical delight is in store for you lucky people! Paul |
Subject: RE: KFFC N.Yorks Nov Big Birthday Bash From: Banjiman Date: 14 Aug 08 - 05:21 AM Tickets still going well..... get yours soon! Paul |
