Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe-getting married & moving to Canada From: CET Date: 15 Sep 07 - 10:51 PM Well, this inquiring Canadian mind wants to know: What part of Canada!? Sounds like somebody we'd like to meet. |
Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: George Papavgeris Date: 15 Sep 07 - 07:47 PM When I first heard I wondered what kind of a person it would take to lead Graham to take such a decision. But the moment I met Lucinde I knew instantly he got it right. Hard to explain after such a brief acquaintance, but they make an awful lot of sense together, and I know they will both be very happy. It's shitty for us losing such a bloke from our midst, but it's the right thing. So let's not mope, let's just celebrate our good fortune to have met Graham, and his good fortune to have met Lucinde. |
Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: bubblyrat Date: 15 Sep 07 - 11:54 AM Saw him in concert with Ian Giles and Ian Wood in Oxford ( Holywell Music Rooms ) on Wednesday, and he was / they were FABULOUS !! He will be much missed at many venues , especially Straw Bear and wherever Miskin may be in future. A truly great singer, and a wonderful harmonica-player-----as someone said on Wednesday, he was John Spiers inspiration !!! |

Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: nutty Date: 15 Sep 07 - 09:04 AM This is what happens when a man retires. Too much time on his hands. I hear he's even had his beard trimmed. He'll be giving up smoking next. (grin) Seriously though - Graham is one of my favourite Yorkshire men and a fantastic singer. I wish him and his new partner all the best in their new life together. So sorry that he will no more be venturing North for the January Winter Weekend. Hazel Bolton |
Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: RTim Date: 15 Sep 07 - 08:27 AM I haven't seen or heard Graham for years, but it is nice to know he will be on THIS side of the pond soon - However - What part of Canada - it is now the largest country in the World (See The Arrogant Worms song - It's Big!) Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 15 Sep 07 - 08:24 AM I'd heard of this just recently and it'll be hard to think of Oxford without Graham. But you can't let a town stand in the way of happiness. I just hope Canada's ready for him. Best wishes Graham. Mick Pearce |
Subject: RE: Graham Metcalfe From: The Sandman Date: 15 Sep 07 - 08:06 AM A fine singer, and a good bloke,Best wishes. Dick Miles |
Subject: Graham Metcalfe From: Pete_Standing Date: 15 Sep 07 - 07:57 AM One of Oxford's, nay Yorkshire's, nay England's most loved and gifted singers is getting married and then emigrating to Canada. He will be sorely missed around these parts, but our loss is his fiancée's gain, likewise the folks over in Canada. I'll be at his post wedding session, so if want your wishes to be passed on, add them here and I'll print them - it would be nice to add your real name of course and not your Mudcat moniker! For my part, he has been inspirational and also encouraging. I just love his voice, his interpretation and his wit. Best wishes to you Graham and your wife. |
