Dear Andreas,

Yes...exactly right. Bus 12 to Gare du Luxembourg and then change to bus 95 (direction Heiligenborre) getting off at the Vander Elst stop (there is normally a stop indicator in the bus). Mooland is 50 metres walk up the hill from the stop, on the right hand side, second house (no. 5) after the Texaco garage.

An alternative is the airport train to Central Station, then the 71 bus (direction Delta), changing to the 95 (stop on opposite side of the road) at Cimitiere d'Ixelles

Best regards,

Moo

Hello,

can you, mooman, provide information which buses/trams/undergrounds/whatever I need to take to come from the airport to mooland?
I already know (or think to know) that I have to change to the bus line 95 and get off at the "Vander Elst" bus stop. And the rest of the way I also found.

I had a look around the "Public transport" pages to which you linked on the EuroGathering page but could not find the info I need (somehow it is missing a page where you can enter your start point and your destination - and the system gives you a detailed plan which lines to take, where to change... as is available for London, Munich, ...)

TIA
MudGuard

The programme is shaping up and I hope to be able to confirm activities for the Friday and Saturday nights shortly. I will also post information on these and other useful information (e.g. what's going to be on in Brussels over the Gathering weekend) on the website link posted at the top of this thread.

On Friday a local Belgian brasserie will welcome us and we will be able to play/sing afterwards there provided at least 10 people are going to eat there (price will probably be about 15 - 20 Euros a head including drinks for plenty to eat).

On the Saturday, I am firming up arrangements for a hall for us to play in within reasonable reach of Mooland. We hope to have drink and food available on site and to make a good evening of it (say 18h30-19h00 till whenever). It is likely that some local musicians and a bit of an "audience" will turn up as well. Mudcatters will of course be admitted free but we may charge a nominal entrance for others. As we will probably be able to eat and drink on site there should be plenty of time for individual spots and collective or spontaneous collaborations or jams!

Needless to say, at all other times, Mooland (see the website for address) will be available for relaxation, eating, jamming, singing or socializing! If the weather holds up, we have a nice patio and terrace area we can spill over into.

Some floor sleepers will be accomodated at Mooland, a few others at friends nearby (4 minutes walk from us and three doors up from aforementioned brasserie). If additional floor space is needed I have offers from three other friends (a little further away from us but still handy).

I'll post up further information as it becomes available and will also put it on the website.

If you haven't already confirmed your likely day and time of arrival, that would be very useful to me.

Looking forward to seeing you all in a month!

Best regards

mooman

Andreas!

Mea maxima culpa! Of course there is floor space for you and I should have confirmed that to you already! The only problem was finding a space big enough! (;>)

I certainly have had some other Euro coins, e.g. Spanish, Luxembourgois and Dutch and will look through my little connection. I've never seen any Finnish or Irish ones though.

Best regards

mooman, mooman, what shall I think of you now?

When a lady asks for floorspace you grant it, when a man (i.e. I) asks for it, the request is ignored ;-)

One more request, especially to mooman and Letty (but anyone else is allowed to help as well):
a friend of mine is trying to collect all the different Euro coins and asked me for support. If anyone has Euro coins from countries other than Germany, Austria or Portugal, please bring them (One coin of each value per nation is enough). I will pay you in German Euro coins. TIA on behalf of my friend.

Susanne, Brussels is a maximum 3 hours from Amsterdam by car and the motorway is straightforward.

Letty, your floor space is reserved!

Looking forward to seeing you both again!

Sorry you can't make it this time Diva and Rollo, I will amend the lists accordingly.

Best regards,

Just booked my voyage - I'll be arriving around lunchtime on Saturday. I'm going via Hull and Amsterdam after all, as the price for the Dover - Ostende trip turned out to be simply extortionate! How far is Brussels from Amsterdam? I've worked out it must be 3 - 4 hours. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Things are beginning to firm up on the performing venue for the Saturday night and I should be able to post details soon here and on the website. Currently we plan for an early evening start going on until late, with plenty of time for individual and collective performances. The venue hosts an occasional folk club so we may have some interested locals for audience and possibly one or two additional performers. It will probably be possible to provide food and drink (at cost price) at the venue which has a small kitchen.

For those who want B&B/inexpensive hotel who I haven't contacted personally yet, the following is very close to Mooland (5 minutes door to door by bus or about 20 minutes walk). It is also very close to local cafes, restaurants and shops and also to the 94 tram and 95 bus, both of which go to the city centre. This may be convenient for those who want to stay close to us rather than in the city.

Some people have already reserved floor space and we have a note of those, but if anybody else prefers this option please let me know as soon as possible

Hotel Auberge du Souverain

Prices are advertised as follows:

Single/shower/TV: Euro 47
Double/shower/TV: Euro 57
Single/bath/WC/TV: Euro 72
Double/bath/WC/TV: Euro 87

Tel: +32 (0) 2 672 1601
Fax: +32 (0) 2 672 4330

I'll be posting further details as I get them.

Very best regards,

mooman

Dear Wolfgang,

The Mooland address is available at the EuroGathering website link at the top of this thread. The site has details also of hotels and B&Bs. Mooland is in Watermael-Boitsfort which is at the South-East edge of Brussels.

Brussels Central and Brussels Midi are probably equally convenient. From Brussels Central take the 71 bus in the direction Delta and change onto a 95 bus at the Cimitiere d'Ixelles. From Brussels Midi take the metro (direction Simonis) and get off at the station Trone/Troon. Take the exit at the back of the metro train end of the platform and take the 95 bus from the stop just round the corner.

The stop to get off the 95 bus is "Vander Elst" (there is usually an stop indicator in the buses). The stop is next to a Texaco garage. Walking uphill and keeping the Texaco garage on your right, Mooland is the second house on the right (number 5), about 50 metres from the bus stop.

Hoping this helps you!

Best regards,

mooman

Yes, please, a near hotel or B&B. I have looked for the address of Mooland in these threads without success, so I don't know which place would be near.
The name of the busstop would help too.
I come by train (3rd to 5th). Is Brussels Central or Midi better?

Hi Mooman,

what is the nearest Hotel or B&B to our Session place. It would be a good idea if Evi and I would book into that, because there is a good chance, none of us would be able to drive.

And to think all this started as the thought of a grope in a Belgian D cup.

Dear Friends,

I noticed, looking at my calendar today, that it is now only 7 weeks until the Mudcat EuroGathering in Brussels. So I've started a new thread for the final countdown and preparations.

As posted in the last thread, I've devoted part of my website to practical details and you can reach these pages via the following big blue clicky:

For those who have not yet confirmed, following initial interest, I'd love to hear from you if you plan to come. There is still time this far ahead to benefit from a number of cheap ticket deals, either by air or Eurostar.

Many people have already confirmed their day and time of arrival. Again, this would be useful in order to organise food, etc. Also whether you need floor space or whether you plan to stay in a hotel or B&B (see the site for details).

For the Saturday, I'm pretty confident we will have the use of a decent performing space and probably PA if needed. For those arriving on Friday, we may be able to eat and play in a local brasserie. For all other times, there are two decent sized rooms at Mooland that can be used for tunes and singing.

Please do let me know ASAP if you plan to come but haven't confirmed yet.

Looking forward to 3-6 May!

Best regards

mooman
