Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: fair maiden of nottingham Date: 25 Jun 05 - 07:08 AM i have some pics (94) of the happy scene and also a sound track (remember outside recording) i will bring them to daves BBQ on Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: woodsie Date: 23 Jun 05 - 11:24 AM Galliard! I did want to mention them but only found out their names last night! They were brilliant. The jazz tent was originally supposed to be a place where dave silk could kip and store his drums & double bass! Yes I believe that there should be only one main session during the evening/night. There's bags of time during the day for mini-sessions/workshops be they jazz, pop or whatever! PS Mr Waterhouse's Daughter's house ... best song of the weekend. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 22 Jun 05 - 02:10 PM You ought to credit Kent superstars Galliard as well (Dave and Gaye Rae) - the stonking jazz-flavoured stuff from Sat Nite. Dave is possibly the best guitarist in Kent in many different styles, and Gaye a wonderful "sweet jazz" vocalist - I like her best when she grunts! Secondly, I'm not sure about encouraging a separatist "jazz tent" (devoted, it seems, mostly to pop recorded in the last 5 years): let's all do it together (maybe in the road)! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 21 Jun 05 - 06:47 AM I'm afraid it's a bit late to return the sheep now, as it's all chopped up ready for the Barbecue on Sunday. Does anyone know how to dress the fleece so that someone can wear it to satisfy Richard Bridge's carnal lusts ? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dipsodeb Date: 20 Jun 05 - 07:16 PM I would just like to thank all the catters that came along. We do our best to make it a great weekend. By all accounts that was achieved and we didn't need the first aid tent after all ;-) Sorry about the hippy that will not be happening again as we will make sure that he is informed that he is no longer welcome to attend the event. I hope it dosen't put anyone off coming again. A big thanks to Dave for making the great beer that gave everyone a hangover I would like to think that the punch and the slammers helped a little. However the farmer has mentioned that one of his flock is missing now i'm not mentioning any names DB but please return it to the feild by no later than 6pm Weds without stains. LOL Richard thank you once again. You know why!;-) See You all in September. ~Debs~ |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Essex Girl Date: 20 Jun 05 - 06:18 PM Lovely weekend, thanks to folk mob. The hose was a brilliant idea. Made it home (just) with a leaking radiator hose. Had to stop at a pub to let the car cool down. Then went to sleep in the garden to recover. See you on Sunday Linda |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 20 Jun 05 - 10:40 AM Great weekend, I'm glad you all enjoyed the "Knockers" - although I take no responsibility for any hangovers on Sunday ! Don't forget the sequel, our BBQ on Sunday (see this thread) - there will be 5 more gals of a similiar recipe, plus 5 more of a lighter bitter. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 20 Jun 05 - 09:24 AM All credit to the folkmob - Pat, Debbie, Woodsie, Sue, Dave, etc etc. They all deserve medals! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: woodsie Date: 20 Jun 05 - 07:11 AM Thanks to all who helped make the week a success. Apologies for the brief disturbance involving the hippie (bald headed bearded bloke who was swearing and insulting people) on saturday night. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: GUEST,The Barden of England at work Date: 20 Jun 05 - 03:26 AM That was fun - I'll certainly try and make the next one if I'm not otherwise engaged. The "Knockers" was great Dave - just about right, and thanks to Dilligaf for the pink blanket. Thanks to Richard bridge who is at this very moment nursing my Bodrhan (I remembered the guitar though). For those who haven't been to this mini-fest you really should give it a try. Lovely, friendly people, a wonderful setting, and good music to boot. What more could you wish for. Well done you guys. John Barden |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 19 Jun 05 - 04:28 PM Who was the corpse lying in the sun by the main tent this morning being anointed with suntan cream (without any sign of life) by a person of the opposite gender? And who let the hippy in? |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 19 Jun 05 - 11:34 AM A very nice girl from the Times came on Saturday afternoon to take photos of me for an article for Monday about the Licensing Act, and took a huge pile of photos of me, Pete Hicks, and Richard Phipps, in the main tent, outside the main tent, by the campfire, and so on...so buy your Times on Monday and you may see a spot of the flavour. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 18 Jun 05 - 02:23 PM This is your roving reporter at the Knockholt Mini Festival. We had a good session last night and after some wonderful weather today it is still a fine warm evening. Most of the usual Mudcat suspects are here Woodsie, Dipsodeb, Richard Bridge, Girl Friday, Mumbliing Len Turner, Dave Kenningham, Fisheye, Dilligaf, The Barden of England, and of course Essex Girl and Myself. We're just about to barbecue our steaks and then it'll be time for this evenings session when I can find out how this years "Knockers" beer has turned out. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 17 Jun 05 - 02:43 AM Well the hard core of the Folk Mob are aready in residence on the site and were about to tuck into Debs' curry after we left the caravan there yesterday evening. We popped down to Chipstead and enjoyed Hartley Morris' session at the "Bricklayers Arms" afterwards. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 15 Jun 05 - 06:35 PM Exactly what bits of Richard's equipment are you referring to Val ? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dilligaf Date: 15 Jun 05 - 05:46 PM Roofies? better still has any one got a spare female for Richard? A slim, musclar one to help him with all his equipment he seems to carry around with him all the time. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Jun 05 - 05:23 PM Looks as if Jeff's legs have let him down again, so I'll be solo. Anyone got some roofies for Penny? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 15 Jun 05 - 11:35 AM Thank the lord we've got a shower in our new caravan, and roof lights which actually open. We might bring our spare little gas fridge. The main problem if it gets very hot will be that I won't want wool next to my skin which is goung to cut out half of my sex life ! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: woodsie Date: 15 Jun 05 - 09:13 AM It's just stopped raining! - I'll be there at about 5pm - hate putting tents up in wet field. Still they say it's gonna reach 30 centigrade by Saturday. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Dave Bryant Date: 03 Jun 05 - 07:48 AM Linda and I should be bringing the caravan down on the Thursday night. Hartley Morris will be dancing in the vicinity that evening at: 8.30pm The Harrow, Knockholt 9.30pm The Bricklayer's Arms, Chipstead. When we've sited the 'van we are planning to go and join them - it will probably be at the second venue which is a lovely Folk-friendly Shep's pub and I'm sure that there will be some singing when Hartley have finished dancing. If any others fancy the trip, I'm sure Linda will have a few spare seats. Graham is getting another barrel of beer! So with that + Dave's "Knockers" we will have abot 80 pints of ale to be consumed! - perhaps we should invite Alcoholics Anonymous to send a representative ! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: melodeon king Date: 03 Jun 05 - 06:59 AM I'm really looking forward to this! It's so cool to sit in a field amongst good company with the 'ol squeezebox, a pint of ale and not a care in the world. I'll be at The Tally Ho at about middsy Friday - see y'all there! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Bo Date: 02 Jun 05 - 01:50 PM I am booked for Tenterden this year (as usual!) and I am really looking forward to it. It seems that Ashley Hutchins has approved of me doing his sound. You may remember the Rainbow Chasers at Smedleys memorial last year. My work here is "tourism" and getting time off at this part of the year would be impossible. I do wish you all a great time. Give my regards to Pigs Ear also. I will be starting a club here in September. It will be anounced via this message board and all the usual sources. Stay in touch and I may be in a position to offer a guest spot if you can bring 50 fans with you. Ha ha Bo |

If not, are you expecting to make Tenterden this year ? - you ought to keep some connections with your old county. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt mini-fest summer 2005 Kent UK From: Bo Date: 29 May 05 - 07:21 AM Just a little note from the Wild West to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY in advance to Mr Barden. I'm very sorry that I will not be there but the journey would be impossible. I will be thinking of you all. Have a great time and best wishes to all who can still remember me. Things down here are not as active as they once were and publicity is a noghtmare. On the evening of 22nd May I found out, accidently, that there had been a 5 day folk festival in Plymouth (17 miles away) and it had just finished. There was no publicity that reached me and I work in a music venue!!! I am even more miffed to find that I missed Mrs Ackroyd !!!! |
