Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: TheSilentOne Date: 25 May 09 - 06:25 AM As we were leaving last night the "survivors" in the garden struck up The Sailor's Farewell. We got to the car and could hear the singing drifting to us on the night. We had to stop and hear it out - a magical moment. Thank you Val, Richard, Linda and everyone for a great day. |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: VirginiaTam Date: 25 May 09 - 06:24 AM Dipsodeb - I asked because he was stonking good at the blues harp and because I became confused (partly from cider) because I thought he was with you, when you left with Woodsie, he stayed. I think I was introduced to him at the same time introduced to you? People and events are filtering slowly through the Jacques fogged brain. |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Dipsodeb Date: 25 May 09 - 06:09 AM Thanks for a great day sorry I had to leave earlier than planned. VT the guy sat next to Woodsie was Big Pat my husband I know not why you ask so answer this with some trepidation as I expect he was one of the ones who was very very slaughtered as Richard mentioned. Val you have a very lovely house and gardens, you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and peaceful place.... Yuk I hate living in London! |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: VirginiaTam Date: 25 May 09 - 05:47 AM I caught a cider hangover. Ugghh! That Jacques fruit stuff is very sneaky. TheSilentOne is still abed and he drank only a glass and a half of soemthing. But his is not sorehead. Sheer exhaustion from the past weeks of Osted, EdExcel verification, marking, visiting his parents and occasional folking. I met and got to know more Catters - My guru always said, BillyBob and Dipsodeb. That Ben was amazing and I kept my eyes riveted to his fingers. Who was the fellow with the blues harp, next to Woodsie? It was a top gathering. I wept on 3 separate occassions. No Worries caught me off guard with "THE" song. And the recording of Dave Bryant doing Grey Funnel Line. So sorry I missed meeting this man and then began thinking about the others I wished I'd known, etc. and wishing you all might of met Andie. She would have knocked your socks off, and not just musically. I can't remember what other song got to me. Oddly enough I didn't cry when we sent the lanterns. Thank you for letting me dedicate one to Andie. There were a couple of moments of chorus interrptus, which always makes me feel better when I flub up a song. Last half hour or so was fantastic with loads of rousing chorus songs. Always glad to hear Kev the Clogs sing the moving ones. Thanks to all for inviting us. See you soon at Essex Girl's BBQ. Hope you all enjoy the Pig's Ear |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 May 09 - 04:56 AM It was an excellent event. We sent off 5 wish lanterns. We also drank ALL the beer and MOST of the cider. There may be a "before" picture on someone's phone showing the garden shed looking like the beer shelves in a well-stocked specialist beer shop, and if so I hope it will eventually reach photobucket. Some people were very very wrecked and there may be some sore heads this morning. You know who you are! I felt awful at 7 am, but managed to get back to sleep again for a couple of hours and now feel much better. |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: growler Date: 24 May 09 - 04:50 PM I would have loved to have been there, but other things were going on, I have drunk a toast to Jacqui, Dave and Slatts with my respects Simon |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: VirginiaTam Date: 24 May 09 - 03:46 AM Well I am in a strop this morning. Watermelon is like slimey light pink sponge, mango is disgusting, honeydew over ripe. I am afraid to check the pineapple and strawberries. Will do a quick ranting trip into Sainsbury's about the state of their fruit and see if I can find substitutes. Re bringing voices, I may be nattering quietly with folks in various corners throughout the event. I've been losing my voice after one song lately. Bringing instruments to fiddle around with though. Maybe even the dulcimer. Pierre - I suddenly remembered why I wanted those strings. Going to redtring little youth guitar to take to work and practice there on lunch hour. Since I cannot mudcat at least that is something constructive. I can hide out in the first aid room or one of the meeting rooms to practice. See you guys about 1:30 - 2:00. |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 May 09 - 07:33 PM Sod the "brownies" (is that American, I thought they were like cubs only female). Just bring your voices. And any meat you want to eat. And if you think about 100 pints of beer and 20 litres of (err-strong) cider are not enough, bring more alcohol. |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: My guru always said Date: 23 May 09 - 06:28 PM Just had a quick look at the All Saints Annex that Pierre mentioned, very interesting. Thought it might be the same place I took my fathers photo collection of war memorials to, but it wasn't. Have done brownies, now cooling. I'll check them in the morning to make sure they're edible. If they are we might get across to join the fun! |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: naughtyforty Date: 23 May 09 - 04:48 PM Unfortunately, the only excuse I have for not attending tomorrow is my own demise and as I am not willing to hasten that I guess I will have to go. I have to say Pierre I am liking the idea of you crashing through the stain glass windows though. If you could persuade Essex Girl to make a small detour that would work for me!!!! Seriously though I will be thinking (jealously) of you all tomorrow and also remembering the dear departed. Have fun and sing one for me x x |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 May 09 - 04:06 PM You are welcome. You could present the argument that this is an affirmation of your respect for departed close friends, who are gone and cannot be revived, (and maybe even now wait suspended between heaven and earth for your prayers) whereas you will have frequent future opportunities to assist in the observance of the Christian duties of the new life. The argument is of course spurious, but it might be specious (look it up). |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 23 May 09 - 05:29 AM Sorry to say, we shan't be able to get to this one after all. Family commitments supervene. One of the things about having an 89 year old father with dementia, is the unpredictable nature of calls to assist. We shall be thinking about you tomorrow, and especially about the absent trio. Having conned their way through the gates of paradise, I have no doubt they will already have carved an enormous swathe through the musical activities of that realm. Has anyone noticed a sudden upturn in the number of harps offered for sale? God bless and keep them all. They were special. Don & Winnie T |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Richard Bridge Date: 21 May 09 - 05:19 PM If Richard can walk from Leatherhead to your house, he can walk from Dilligaf's to mine. AND there are no estate agent's signs in the path across the fields... Ther eare some passing places in the lower road. You would probably be gone before the council could evict (40 foot trailer anyone?). I will drive the road tomorrow and seek warning-off signs... There is also an area that it might be difficult to evict a van from near the fishing lake in Middle Stoke (a shorter walk). However, given the forecast, I think Pete the Hat may have the right idea - two bivvi bags would crack it... |

Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: dilligafxx Date: 21 May 09 - 04:57 PM Afraid we have no space for caravans only tents which is a shame can't think of anywhere you could stick one round here without upsetting the neighbours and the pub car park will be full on a sunday so not much hope there and don't know whats happening about the farm yard up the road as its no longer used as a farm yard xx Anyway as far as I was told in South America its the seeds that you partake of and the more drugs you do the better you are able to communicate with the dead and travel to higher plains xx |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Richard Bridge Date: 21 May 09 - 01:31 PM No. The nearest conceivable caravan space is the pub carpark (100 yards) by special arrangement only - you will need to ring Dilligaf. I could (for you) get ONE SMALL caravan (in addition to my own) on my drive, but it is about a mile walk away. Val, is there any nickable van space at the top of Church Path? My guess is that the farmer would throw hand grenades! |
Subject: RE: ReWake: Slats, Jacqui and Dave Bryant From: Girl Friday Date: 21 May 09 - 11:02 AM We have some citronella oil, and whatever lanterns aren't in the caravan, will bring with. |
