Although it's not strictly connected with Knockholt, many of the people there came to our last barbecue.

Therefore Linda and I would like to announce that the provisional date for the next one will be Sunday, 14th October (2pm onwards as usual).

Sorry that it's so late in the season, (and apologies to anyone going to Bromyard) but we'll be at Walton-on-the-Naze festival the previous week.

I'll start a new thread nearer the date.

Streaky always has to forget something - it was his guitar stand at our charity ceilidh. Perhaps he get's distracted by Val's "assets" - I do sometimes.

If anyone has them please PM me or post here.

I think Pete Hicks has lost some things like that - perhaps not a capo. His were allegedly (at one stage) in a box. I found some of his picks Sunday on a log but some are still missing,.

Can you describe and I'll check, he only lives the next village over.

Perhaps we could get Jim to run a "Throwing oneself on the fire" workshop next year. It really demonstrated the tremendous power of Booze over Matter. Perhaps we should invite some politicians like Kim Howells to it ..........

Arriving late on Wednesday night
we saw the logs were burning bright
amidst the flickering firelight yellow
we found the gang relaxed and mellow.

Woodsie and Graham the fire did stoke
as Debs and Pat chilled in the smoke
the music filled our hearts and head
and Davie K. sloped off to bed.

Thursday brought friends old and new
Grant and Nat with bairns too
that night our singing rose the dead
and Davie K. sloped off to bed.

Friday night with Sheilagh singing
both our voices shrill and ringing
Jim said "God that noise is dire"
then flung himself upon the fire.

Saturday lazing in the shade
sipping beer and lemonade
we might almost be in Devon
kids and dogs in seventh heaven.

A viking playing double bass
with flaxon hair and fair a'face
Dave Silk of his nuts a'sharing
what a handsome suit he's wearing.

Richards camera captures all
he wants us for a photo call
around the fire and all together
basking in the glorious weather

The marquees up the punch is ready
Daves Knockholt knockout's strong and heady
Pat and Debs have done us proud
Joe Bazouki's singing loud.

The party is going with a swing
and Davie K. begins to sing
in south Australia I was born
who'll be up to greet the dawn?

Auntie Olive at seventy nine
takes a puff and feels so fine
swigs Jack Daniels from the bottle
it bucks her up and rev's her throttle.

Mick is snoring to the beat
of Dead Horses Misses flying feet
Tequila slammers, punch and wine
I've lost the plot but feeling fine.

I try to sing but lose the knack
I guess it's time to hit the sack
so grab the dog and fall asleep
and dream of vikings, nuts and sheep.

Hope you all enjoyed yourself as much as we did and thanks to everyone who took home a bag of rubbish. The farmer was very pleased that we had a great time and the sheep expressed their relief that no revellers were wearing wellingtons.
see you soon
Sue and Mick.

I poked me head out and was half licked to death by a very large Llama....... shit that was some punch I ain't never gonna trust another women, who tells me it's just juicy ;>)

Her Indoors was tickled pink to hear you all liked her hoofing.
I taught her everything I know. (Then she went and got taught proper)
Thanks to all concerned, and I will get to the FolkMob one day soon,
I am a member, honest!!!!
The highlight of the weekend for us was the "fire-walking act".
Some unkind soul was, however, heard to remark "Throw another Woodsie on the fire" as the embers were settling.......

BTW - Richard Bridge keeps trying to find out who the girl was who seemed to take a shine to Royston at our BBQ - who was the lady who was paying so much attention to Richard on Saturday that it actually embarassed Val Hicks so much that she had to move (and pinch my chair) ? I must admit that I didn't think anything could embarass Val.

I tried to post this from the site yesterday morning, but there seemed to be a problem on Mudcat.

Saturday night was wonderful - great atmosphere - enhanced by Dipsodeb's lethal punch and the "Knockholt Knockout" (which turned out quite well I think).

The wonderful thing about Knockholt is that it's such a laid back weekend - you can do what you like when you like (well almost - one of the sheep was not very co-operative).

Thanks to Mick, Sue, Pat, Dipsodeb and all those who helped to make it so much fun.

PS I left Rock Chick out of my list of 'catters and there was also another one (in the trailer tent) whose name I can't remember - (please post and insert your name in the Knockholt Mudcat roll of honour).

It was great to meet a host of old and new friends over the last five days. The weather, atmosphere and musical fun was marvelous. Thanks to the Mudcat's, Dave Silk, Joe Bazouki and all who participated and made this a a very special weekend.
In particular - thanks to Debs and Pat for organising the 10th anniversary bar. What a choice - tequila - Knockholt Knockout, balloons, muffins and the mystery punch!.
The sheep, horses and llamas (I am sure I spotted some)want to come back next year.
Did'nt I say it was going to be a really hot weekend!.
Loads of photo's were taken and will be appearing soon.

What a fantastic weekend. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, I would like to thank everyone who turned up and gave the whole festy a great atmosphere. I would pearticularly like to thank Dave Bryant for brewing us a barrel of the best brew around, and Kay for her faster than lightning dance steps...... I don't know how the hell she managed it after drinking the punch, but thanks anyway. Joe Bazouki and the Missing Puddings (what can I say!!) Joe never ceases to entertain, baked beans and trainers as prizes!!? what was that about ;)
I think the most bizzarre sight for me out of the whole weekend, and trust me there was several I could choose from, was Dave Silk standing in the middle of a field full of clover with viking hat and wig playing a Double Bass, it was surreal. ;)LOL I'd better stop now before I get to the juicy bits, and leave the telling to someone else.

Greetings to the rest of the world from your roving correspondent, Knockholt – Friday 9pm

It's a lovely evening here on the site – the camp fire is burning and there seems to be a big enough woodpile (the remains of a large dead tree) to keep it that way. A singaround is in progress and as soon as I've eaten, I'll be joining them.

'Catters here include Woodsie, Dave K, Dipsodeb, Richard Bridge, Aidan Crossley, Bassic, Dead Horse and of course Linda and myself.

We left the caravan up there yesterday evening and there were quite a few folk around, including Woodsie, Dave K, and Dipsodeb.

I expect to be able to access Mudcat (PDA or Laptop + mobile phone) from Knockholt so will keep you posted.

Should be getting the caravan there this evening, although it won't be properly tenanted until Friday.

When are you planning to set up the beer ? - it could do with at least 48 hours to settle - BEFORE you try it. It needs to be kept in the shade with a wet/damp towel over it. If you need to borrow a gazebo (from our herd) let me know. I can also let you have a gas cylinder so that you can put a blanket pressure on it between boozing sessions - I put a valve on the barrel for the purpose.

10 years at Knockholt this year what the heck if it rains a bit - there will be no need for Nigel's shower.
Looking forward to the tequila slammers under the stars on Saturday and the good company. I saw Joe Bazouki last week during his gig with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and he confirmed he will be coming along Saturday at some time.
We intend to still enjoy ourselves as we have done in the past during less favourable weather conditions - A rare treat is that Grant Davis and family are coming along from Bath to help keep the fire going all weekend. John 'E' Phelps will also be performing with his new band. Plus with all the Mudcat friends we met at Dave's BQ and others it promises to be a great weekend. There is the field - the 3 loos, masses of firewood and the Tally- Ho - the rest is up to us.
