Got the tickets and the wean's passport renewed so all I have to do now is escape from my mother for a day or two. Cheers! Jim |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 19th/ 20th/21st 20 From: John MacKenzie Date: 27 Aug 07 - 04:18 PM The hostel has double rooms for about £29 a night if that's his worry. Tell me where you are coming from, and I will tell you how to get there by public transport. Get to Inverness and we can get you the rest of the way somehow, or the train station is right beside the hotel. Giok |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 19th/ 20th/21st 20 From: Sabine Date: 27 Aug 07 - 04:13 PM Well, at the moment there is a 50:50 chance for me to make it. either I come with a friend, but he refuses to stay at the hostel and prefers camping (which is out of question for me) or I cannot come at all cause I don't have a car at the moment and don't know how to reach it with public transport Or I have a car, can come up by myself and stay at the hostel... sorry, I cannot be more precisely at the moment :-( |

Can please anyone provide me with the information about 1. when 2. where 3. help with accomodation 4. prices heeeeeeeeelp!!!! Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 19th/ 20th/21st 2007 From: lady penelope Date: 21 Aug 07 - 12:30 PM Must say I'm kinda in your boat Drumshanty. Although I'd still be flying to Invershin as I live in London! However, last year on my 40th birthday I decided enough was enough, I was fed up of camping in a tent that you had to 're-birth' yourself to get out of (and get dressed lying down in) and of basically not going to enough fests and gathers due to lack of transport. I've scored a tent I can stand up in (and the foot print isn't much bigger than my old tent) and I've got as far as passing my theory test. Unfortunately, as I haven't got access to a car to practice in, I need more lessons and they're having to happen as and when I get the money. But still, shouldn't be too long now as my instructor is making iencouraging noises about booking tests and my mother has promised that I can borrow her car once I get my full license. So Next year promises to be fun!!! My poor husband will become a folk widower.... |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Jul 07 - 12:06 PM There is a regular service from the airport to Inverness. Europcar can hire you a minibus at the airport. Wouldn't it be a good idea for people to compare flight numbers and arrival times? DOH! Giok |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 05 Jul 07 - 12:40 PM You still scaring those sheep Bron? Bad girl, no biscuit! LTS |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Llanfair Date: 05 Jul 07 - 04:23 AM There's no problem with dogs as long as they are well behaved. Monty sits on his own rug next to the window and watches the world go by, or uses his collie stare, the one that scares sheep, to get people to give him food. He's really friendly, and fat and cuddly. Bit like me, really!! |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: katlaughing Date: 04 Jul 07 - 06:04 PM That is so cool, Bron! Last I knew we couldn't take pets on the trains over here. |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 04 Jul 07 - 01:53 AM Mini-buses aren't all that more expensive than hire cars, and at the moment, that is looking to be the safest option. What we need is a local minibus/7 seater car owner with a couple of spare days and a reputation for not fleecing tourists... LTS |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Tattie Bogle Date: 03 Jul 07 - 07:32 PM Well at risk of being besieged with requests, I shall be driving up frae Edinburgh wi' Drumshanty, so potentially room for 2 more frae Edinburgh or Inverness. PM me if interested, tho at present can't say exactly whit time on the Friday, and we'll be traivelling back latish on Sunday. (Double-basses neednae apply!) TB |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Effsee Date: 03 Jul 07 - 06:52 PM Ah! That would be a difficulty, my apologies, I was unaware of that. Reading back through the posts I think it would be very expensive to hire a mini bus to go all the way to Invershin (if that was what was intended), not too bad just to take folks to Inverness station though. I'm almost sure there is a regular bus service from the airport into town. Then throw yourselves on the mercies of Scotrail! |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Megan L Date: 03 Jul 07 - 06:41 PM True but only for someone i could attach lugs tae and lift wie the wheelchair lift.:( if the flamin new caur ever arrives |
