Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 10 Jun 03 - 08:15 AM Pat took delivery of the Knockholt Knockout at our barbecue on Sunday - if he hadn't got it out and locked in his car quickly, we'd have drunk it ! It's a similiar brew to the "Old Spiney" so anyone who was at the BBQ will have an idea what it should be like. I regret to say that there was no beer left over from Sunday for me to bring along. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Woodsie Date: 09 Jun 03 - 10:10 AM People have been asking if they can bring kids & dogs. Well if they are well behaved and kept under reasonable control no problem. remember that we have a huge bonfire so please do not alow kids to mess with it as we have appointed fire marshalls (health & safety legislation etc...) Also could dog owners clean or scoop any poop that the dogs do in the main field (it burns well!!!) Remember the more the merrier! |

BIG PAT. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 06 Jun 03 - 09:53 AM Dave K - "It gets really hot over the weekend" - don't you think that you're tempting providence with a statement like that. Going by the present weather, I'd pack a raincoat. If we all pack wet-weather gear and lots of sweaters, it'll probably be a heatwave. Linda has only just received the sad news that Bridget probably won't be coming down because she was unable to book an apex ticket from Scotland. We are working on her to see if she can get a cheap flight instead. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dipsodeb Date: 06 Jun 03 - 09:18 AM I have just booked the wood for the fire, I booked double the amount we usually have so the fire will be huge by night and masses of embers to cook on by day..... If I close my eyes I can smell the smoke even now, OH S---T!! No it's not, iv'e forgotten to turn the tatoes down HA Ha |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: mexican Date: 06 Jun 03 - 09:01 AM It is a really cool laid back relaxing weekend - chill out in a field with a beautiful view of the Kent countryside with some really friendly people - listen to some great acoustic music - traditional folk, blues, country ALL styles welcome. Sit all night around the greatest campfire in the South East! Mustn't be missed. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Arnold Layne Date: 05 Jun 03 - 09:45 AM You can get a fantastic meal in The Tally Ho pub for about eight quid - huge portions of gourmet quality nosh - see y'all there! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,DaveK Date: 31 May 03 - 01:01 PM I'm getting loads of people say they want to come but may have problems getting to the field. If there is anyone who is going on Friday night/Saturday and have a spare space can they let us know via the Folkmob site or whatever so we can make arrangements. There may be a pint of Knockholt Knockout in it. Remember to bring the suntan lotion - It gets really hot over the weekend. There will also be our huge (ish) tent for those who want to escape the heat at the weekend - but then there is also the Tally-Ho down the road. They do a roaring trade that weekend - and the food is superb!. Anyone who wants to get rid of the old wardrobe or fencing is welcome to take the ideal opportunity to contribute to the fire - it never goes out. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: cockney Date: 30 May 03 - 07:24 PM "Big She" will be there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 May 03 - 10:42 AM Does anyone remember Whirligig the children's tv programme from the 1950s ? (giving my age away). Mexican Pete used to sing things to the tune of "The Mexican Hat Dance" such as:- "I'm Mexican Pete, zee bad bandit Zee bad bandit I always 'ave bin I tie Senor Hank to zee railroad An' zat is zee end of 'im !" "I'm Mexican Pete ze bad bandit I've captured the little Cassy Senor Hank he must pay ze fat ransom Before little Cassy I free" "I'm Mexican Pete ze bad bandit Zees onions they makea me cry Please letta me out of zis kitchen Poor Mexican Pete he will die!" |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: melodeon king Date: 30 May 03 - 09:02 AM Ah Dave but we're not talking about boroughs, it's counties - you see most of the London Borough of Bromley is in the County of Kent. Anyway maybe not the physical centre of the but the spiritual heart - at least for the few days that our mob are there! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dead Horse Date: 30 May 03 - 08:52 AM Further to the Mexican Hat theme, will there be badges? (answers on a postcard please) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 May 03 - 07:05 AM I'd dispute "in the heart of Kent" - you're only just over the border - Knockholt railway station is actually in the London Borough of Bromley. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: melodeon king Date: 29 May 03 - 01:42 PM Forget cambridge - that's a pop show - THIS IS REAL FOLK in the heart of Kent! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,DaveK Date: 26 May 03 - 06:04 PM Nigel not only improvised with a makeshift bar last year - and at two in the morning - I still have memories of him serving up coctails under a clear starlit sky - heaven!. He is also the one who put together the Knockholt shower - The first time we have been able to provide one. Great shame he will not be at this year's festival. However, our loss is Australia's gain and I am sure we will see him again. Do we know if Kit is going this year - there is a shortage of banjo players. Are there going to be any rambles - never seem to get further than the Tally - Ho?. Johnny Phelps has pledged to come on Saturday - well worth the wait. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: Dipsodeb Date: 26 May 03 - 02:20 PM Yep we will really miss him, but the show goes on as they say, and the BAR IS OPEN, goes without saying, so we will have to have a few slammers and think of him. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: Sliding Down The Bannister At My Auntie's House Date: 26 May 03 - 11:49 AM It's a shame that Nigel saunders will not be there this year, he was a great laugh. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: Dipsodeb Date: 26 May 03 - 04:10 AM Knockholt also falls over the weekend of the summer solstice (June 21st) it's a time to spend around the fire with friends and celebrate the turning of the year. Now Midsummer Solstice is year's shortest Night. The longest of Day's and summer's full height. Diana, creatress, great mother and queen with her consort, Herne Oak-King, out walking is seen. Midsummer we dance, we dance round the fire rejoicing the turning of year twixt Solstice and lammas, the flowers give way to fruit, nuts and berries, and corn day by day. Blessings |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: melodeon king Date: 22 May 03 - 09:46 AM You can't plug a bass guitar into it ? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: Dave Bryant Date: 22 May 03 - 04:33 AM I'll probably have a small PA (the one we use at our BBQs) with me if anyone needs it - complete with a battery and inverter to run it. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: Dead Horse Date: 21 May 03 - 08:26 AM If the MkI Experimental Motorised Bungalow is up to it, me & misses will attempt the massive journey of more than 15 miles. The AA has been forewarned. Kay will be bringing her portable dance floor, but at 2ft x 2ft 6in, it aint up to massed display teams or N.W. Morris. Will there be banjo accompaniment? (I dont relish singing "South Australia" at breakneck speed anymore, getting too old!!!) |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: GUEST,DaveK Date: 17 May 03 - 05:44 PM Certainly missed out on the e-mail attachment. If this is like the beer Dave brewed last year we are in for an excellent treat. Nice to hear Joe may be there. Hopefully some of Monokey are also turning up.Shame it will be the first year for ages without Nigel. We need a video link. Starting to put some new photo's on the web site -Who can remember the old house in the adjacent field - I know - it is difficult to remember much at all after a weekend at Knockholt. Nothing to do at all with Knockholt but Fraser Nimmo is on at the Tudor Barn next Wednesday - I believe as a kick off to his new CD Launch and summer gig with Show of Hands. Is this right?. Finally,is it true that there are going to be a number of new workshops at Knockholt?.I enjoyed the bodhran, harp and guitar workshops last year. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent From: cockney Date: 17 May 03 - 12:10 PM Joe Bazouki & The Missing Puddings are rumoured to be doing a guest spot this year! |
