Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: MMario Date: 07 Mar 06 - 09:16 AM just FYI - nothing bad has happenned to me personally - just I am living in "intersting times" as far as family health and living situations; the "circumstances beyond my control" type stuff that is gonna prohibit wandering for a bit. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: MMario Date: 07 Mar 06 - 09:09 AM life has happened - I most likely will *NOT* be present - but would much much much rather be with you guys. |

Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Dharmabum Date: 07 Mar 06 - 07:42 AM For those of you making this trip for the first time, you're about to see some of the prettiest country on the planet. Well,ok,I'm a little biased seeing as I've got a place in the next county over. But it is durn easy on the eyes! Susan;I'm not sure what I'm bringing for food yet. I'll have to check my snares Saturday morning. Mayby we'll git lucky 'n git us some racoon 'r possum! DB. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Bill D Date: 06 Mar 06 - 09:51 PM Don't worry...I'm from Kansas. You haven't lived until you've taken one of the minor roads thru the Flint Hills...you'd swear there couldn't BE that much grass and rocks with no one doing anything. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 09:27 PM To gauge your progress on the trip-- we're an hour past Williamsport. Don't worry when you get up north of W'port and face the bleak wilderness. There are valleys you can't see from there, with little towns-- it's not really as deserted as it will very suddenly look. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 08:39 PM ... and the large metal prison trays will be freshly washed and set out.... :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 08:33 PM Bill, there's been some new construction on 15 and new exits in the last year, so I will PM you my version of directions. Or you could just bring Charlie! ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Bill D Date: 06 Mar 06 - 08:21 PM quote "yum" unquote... all sounds fine. We hope to get an early start, but one which dodges rush hour around here. If Charlie Baum, our local biological AAA map, is correct, that should get us there in mid-afternoon. Maybe I'll tune 2 autoharps for the occasion.... |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 07:15 PM .... and a big Ziploc bag full of cooked chicken drumsticks if anyone wants to bring BBQ sauce to make 'em zippy for snacks.... ... and the end of a cooked ham we can thinslice for sandwiches and/or cube for the snack bar... ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 07:07 PM Here's what I know (or suspect) about food, for anyone who wonders what else to bring: Rita & Bill: 2 or 3 big bags of pre-cut salad stuff, some bananas, tangerines, apples or whatever, and something to contribute to a breakfast, plus one main dish cooked or ready to cook for suppers. Dick & Susan: Big pot of paella; maybe egg rolls WYS & Hardi: P-Vine's amazing egg gravy and/or crockpot oatmeal for breakfasts; pre-cooked chicken and Italian sausage for sandwiches, and my Greek stewed tomatoes (wine, cinnamon, mmmm!) for lunches; coffee, tea, milk, drinking water.... have olive oil and wine vinegar for salad dressings.... I have almost a gallon of maple syrup if anyone wants to bring vanilla ice cream or an uniced cake to serve with it. Dharmabum: I know he's bringing "some grub," probably one of his mom's great Hungarian casseroles. Mmario: Leo has supplied most of the missing items from past Gatherings, dear man that he is. I told him this time to just COME and RELAX. I'm setting up an ingenious iced countertop area to keep buffet items fresh. Hardi put the new gas bottle on the grill today, too. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 12:15 PM So that's: Rita and Bill (Friday arrival) Dave Oesterreich (Friday arrival) Sharon A (Friday arrival???) Susan and Dick (Friday arrival?) Mmario (Daytripping due to family constraints) Dharmabum (Saturday arrival, maybe daytripping) WYS & Hardiman (Hosts) A few local musicians dropping in and out ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Mar 06 - 12:12 PM Dharmabum has written that he'll join us Saturday. Room plans so far are Dick & Susan and Bill & Rita in the two bedrooms in the main house. The rest of the already-confirmed folks will share the Dorm; I have one single left in the main house (near the loo) if there is a strong need to avoid using the Dorm, the Dorm stairs, and/or the pee bucket. There is a couch in the main house living room, as well as a couch in the colder room the cats will occupy-- both convenient to bathrooms. NOTE: If you have a special need (food, environment), I need to know about it soon if I do not already know about it. I'm about to launch into cleaning; so if there are allergy concerns, tell me before I start whipping up the air, OK? Friday's Dinner: A dearly-loved friend has passed, and we'll be heavily involved with his funeral all day on Thursday, the day before arrivals. That's usually the day I get the Friday crockkpots going. So, depending on when people arrive, and what y'all bring, we may do Friday's dinner out at one of our local diners if that's OK. Really looking forward to seeing you all. Still a few RSVP's out, and still room for more. A bed or two left in the Dorm, still, and lots of floor/couch/recliner space, too. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 03 Mar 06 - 07:12 PM I just sent email reminders to a dozen or so who have not replied yea or nay to their invitation as yet. We do have room for several more comfortably-- or many more a bit less comfortably, either in the house or at the church. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Mar 06 - 04:47 PM Y'all want to offer any guidance on when we might look for you to arrive? I mean, I do want to stop cleaning at some point and put some clothes on. :~) ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Mar 06 - 07:54 AM Mick, you would not believe what we went through just trying to pick THIS date-- I wish you could be with us, too. If your travels take you past here that week at all, please feel free to break journey with us. Also, Mmario, Hardi and I plan to visit Ithaca this Sunday afternoon to catch Seamus Kennedy at Bound for Glory. Company is welcome. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Big Mick Date: 01 Mar 06 - 11:53 PM Susan, I would surely love to come, but you made it the weekend before St. Pat's. I will leave NJ on March 9, and will be gigging straight through St. Pat's. Please know I am with you in spirit. Mick |

Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Feb 06 - 08:20 PM Sounds great, Uncle DaveO. Hardi's been away a few days and returned today to your news. He's very pleased, too! You'll find all the "what to bring" details in the link in my first post. At this point, we're planning a Friday supper at a nearby diner to save wear and tear on the hostess, since as usual it's hard to say how many will be here and thus it's hard to know what to make or in what quantity. (When we head out, we'll leave word on the back door where to find us.) ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 15 Feb 06 - 04:22 PM Susan, my present plans have me arriving in Wellsboro noon or early-afternoonish on Friday, and leaving for Indianapolis Sunday afternoon or Monday morning, depending. (Some people are indecisive.) Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: MMario Date: 15 Feb 06 - 08:25 AM Michelle - will miss seeing both of you. Good luck with the teaching! and just maybe things will be slow enough you can pop in for a bit anyway. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: LilyFestre Date: 15 Feb 06 - 06:06 AM There seems to be some implication here that I don't find anyone else worth my time to go to this event other than Brucie. That simply isn't true. I've met some lovely people at Susan's house during these events and I was KIDDING. Currently I am student teaching and am completely swamped with projects and lesson plans. I'm observed frequently and sometimes unannounced. I like to be ready..REALLY READY for the children I work with. Because I am new to this, it takes lots of time to plan things out so I have complete confidence that things will go as planned. Based on my workload, I have let it be known that I am not sure if I can go to this event or not. My absence or presence would have had nothing to do with who was or wasn't there. I was kidding with Brucie and he took it that way. I'm sorry if anyone else read something differently into it. The gatherings at Susan's can be lots of fun with lots of great people. I'm sure a memorable time will be had by all. Michelle |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: LilyFestre Date: 14 Feb 06 - 10:05 PM Susan, Having shared these last few exchanges with my husband, he said, "Tell her not to wait. We aren't coming." Michelle |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 14 Feb 06 - 09:04 PM OK, we "chopped liver" folks will just await your pleasure with bated breath. :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: LilyFestre Date: 14 Feb 06 - 08:55 PM Awww...well you know how it is! Brucie's my bud...he gives me lots of teaching help behind the scenes...so yeah...he holds an extra special spot! Michelle |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 14 Feb 06 - 04:27 PM I would hope you would feel that way about the rest of us, Michelle, especially those who are coming a long way hoping to see YOU. :~) So I'm putting you down for being here for at least part of the time! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: LilyFestre Date: 14 Feb 06 - 03:43 PM If Brucie were coming, I'd HAVE to make time to be there! :) Michelle |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Feb 06 - 08:51 PM OK, Dave, come ahead! Peace, I wish you could come, too. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 13 Feb 06 - 08:31 PM Susan: No, I'll be all by my lonesome. Dorris has a piano competition she's engaged to judge, but she's graciously allowed me to get away that weekend. Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Peace Date: 13 Feb 06 - 07:34 PM Susan, I will never make one of them anywhere, anytime. However, it would have been a blast to get to one of yours. I hope it is a great success and that you keep a million treasured memories from it. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Feb 06 - 07:27 PM Of course I do, Dave, and somehow I KNEW you would be here. (Dave had PMed me he would be unable to come.) No tent needed. Coming alone? (Bring a friend!) ~Susan |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 13 Feb 06 - 07:16 PM Hooray! My circumstances for that weekend have unexpectedly changed, and I intend to be there, w/banjo and guitar. I don't suppose that at this late date you still have any room for me in the house, Susan. Right? I will have my sleeping bag, and a tent if that seems good weatherwise. Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 08 Feb 06 - 04:18 PM Growler, LOL! I warned Don about confusion over the similar name awhile back-- hope he doesn't get TOO many houseguests next month, and that, if he does, they bring food! :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: MMario Date: 08 Feb 06 - 04:12 PM *grin* would that be Falmouth, Maine, or Falmouth Massachusetts? Or some other Falmouth? |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: growler Date: 08 Feb 06 - 04:10 PM Got the wrong WYSIWYG, Love to come, but when I got to Falmouth my car started filling up |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: SharonA Date: 08 Feb 06 - 12:31 PM All righty then. The carpooler with the biggest car gets to carry us all plus the bass! (Note: this is NOT an upright bass; it's an acoustic bass, held and played in the same position as an electric bass, but bigger. Mine has a jumbo body and extra-long neck -- I'm having difficulty finding a gig bag to hold it! It's a bit awkward for this 5'3" lady to play, but it gets the job done.) |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Feb 06 - 09:20 PM You betchum! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: SharonA Date: 06 Feb 06 - 08:48 PM Well, okay, then, if you have a bass amp and a cord to plug into the instrument, neither of which I own at the moment. |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Feb 06 - 08:41 PM Oh but we MUST have the bass, especially if you will grace our Sat. nite service with it. We'll do some black gospel if we have a bass, and I can growl the vocal! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: SharonA Date: 06 Feb 06 - 08:00 PM Hmmm, if it's too cool, I'd better bring extra sweaters and long undies. :^D OK, glad to hear there's room up there for plenty of instruments. However, depending on carpool arrangements, I may not be able to bring the whole arsenal of cases with me. The acoustic bass, especially, takes up a lot of space! |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Feb 06 - 07:37 PM Sharon, TOO COOL! Instruments, no limit. We'll kick someone out of a bed to make room for the cases! :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: RSVP Here for WYSIWYG's Last MudGather From: SharonA Date: 06 Feb 06 - 07:26 PM Well, now that Firecat has so kindly sent me my very own official personalized Mudcat badge as part of last Christmas' Secret Santa pressie, I guess I'll just have to go to a Mudcat Gather so I can wear it! :^) Besides, Susan, you've been inviting me to your place for quite some time now. It's high time I took you up on it, seeing as this roundup will be the last one at the place! So I'll leave lots of food and water out for my kitty (and possibly an extra litter box), and I'll plan to go upstate! Any other 'Catters from the Philadelphia PA area going? If so, is carpooling a possibility? If so, what's the number-of-instruments-per-person limit??? Sharon |
