Subject: RE: Music festival. Roxby, North, Yorkshire. From: GUEST,muppett Date: 15 May 12 - 09:03 AM Hiya, Just had an email from the Captain Cook at Staithes to say they are having an Acoustic Music Festival from July 25TH TO 29TH Free entry and the format is the same as last year, so it looks like history is repeating itself (Dent & Holmefirth spring to mind).May pop in on both as I finish this year's Walk for Amos in Whitby that weekend, 200 miles in 9 days from Windermere to Whitby via Ilkley, York and Helmsley, (more info. to follow). Good luck to both ventures. Cheers Muppett |

From: GUEST,Nige & Di Date: 15 May 12 - 07:58 AM Natalie is the new gaffer and tells me there are no entry fee's to the cook either so we can flit between the 2, though it'll be hard to beat the quality of the beer at the cook, i was there a few weeks ago and Nat keeps a beer just as good as Trev used to and the range was as good as ever..........she as a new chef aswell food i got fish, chips, mushy peas and a pint of beer all for £6.50, the missus had pizza and a wine, also £6.50... |

Subject: RE: Music festival. Roxby, North, Yorkshire. From: Tim Leaning Date: 14 May 12 - 12:34 PM Is there a new land lady? I didn't realize there was a Staithes one this year so as far as I know they would be separate entities.. You don't have to pay to attend the Roxby one what you pay for is the camping..the entry to the pub and the playing of music is for free .. |
Subject: RE: Music festival. Roxby, North, Yorkshire. From: GUEST,Nige & Di Date: 14 May 12 - 12:20 PM last year we attended the Staithes acoustic bash and i've rang the cook and the new landlady tells me thats also running the same time so do we get 2 for the price of 1 |

Subject: RE: Music festival. Roxby, North, Yorkshire. From: GUEST,Maggie Gee Date: 20 Apr 12 - 06:13 PM Although this venue is not a million miles from where I live, I must admit to never having been to Roxby before last Saturday. Ian Swinburne (see Loftus Open Acoustic on Facebook) gigged there that night and we went up a bit early to have a skeggy (thats a Yorkshire look) about the place. Three rooms with varing degree of separation, beer garden with optional extension into a lawned area depending upon the weather (see discussion above) and a large reasonable flat field (unusual in this area) as camp site. Landlord is very welcoming to the idea of lots of people in his pub making music, not just at the festival time, presuming they are buying his beer ! Not being a beer drinker, I can't comment on the quality of his brew, but others seemed to be enjoying it to a great degree. In short, a nice pub with stunning views over sea and moor-land and the prospect of a great long week-end with friends old and new. Love & Peace, Maggie xxx |
