Oh, well, hope some of you enjoyed the video.

"NDN" seems to show up more among the Indigenous communities than the whitehides.:-) Just a few links from Google:

NDN News

NDN Arts

NDN Rock Music (has pop-ups)

NDN Language

NDN Promoter

NDN Globalization Initiative Video

NDN Gear

I've never heard that term before either. Around here it's either Indian, Native, First Nation or (locally) Anishnabe.

The local people (Pueblos, Apaches, Hopi and Navajo) use the collective "Indian" to refer to a group of nations, while calling themselves Zuni, Hopi, Havasupai, and so forth. "Native American" never caught on among them; it remains a construct of well-meaning European-descended Americans. On the other hand, one could spend a lot of time at various Indian Nation websites without finding much mention of the term "NDN".

No, you do not, Jim. I learned it long before all of the text-messaging etc. came about: click here.

So, is NDN a new way to spell Indian? Do I detect the influence of text-messaging and hip-hop culture here? I guess I've been out of the loop on this one.

Anyway - Floyd's cool.

There is a fantastic interview of Floyd Red Crow Westerman on youtube, talking about his songs, movies, but most of all his artwork and NDN spirituality. It is well worth a listen and there are videos of him singing available on youtube, too. Here's the link: Click .
