Subject: RE: Piping for a wedding From: GUEST,KP Date: 06 Jan 09 - 03:59 AM How about 'The Choice Wife'? Although its an Irish tune, I believe, so I don't know how it would work on Scottish pipes. KP |

Subject: RE: Piping for a wedding From: Little Robyn Date: 05 Jan 09 - 07:32 PM We had Haste to the wedding for ours, as Dad and I walked in, but it was on a squeeze box, not pipes. The pipes were later - I played Wild Mountain Thyme and Mitch sang it. Geordie pipes, of course, because we were inside - at the Wellington Folk Centre. Robyn |

Subject: RE: Piping for a wedding From: Liz the Squeak Date: 05 Jan 09 - 05:23 PM Having seen the clips on 'You've been Framed' or 'What's the stupidest thing we can video someone doing', I would strongly recommend a thong or undergarment... tradition is all very well but it can get gusty in August and there are always small boys... Either that or paint a face on 'em. LTS Why DO people video other people demolishing a shed? |
Subject: RE: Piping for a wedding From: Wolfhound person Date: 05 Jan 09 - 05:15 PM I suggest you ask on a bagpipe forum - there are several - where you'll probably get more suggestions / offers than you can handle. Try www.bobdunsire.com for one; there are yahoo groups as well Paws |
Subject: RE: Piping for a wedding From: open mike Date: 05 Jan 09 - 12:17 AM Mairi's wedding might be a good one...not sure which of the times it would be best for...but the words are great.. step we gaily, off we go, heel for heel and toe for toe... arm in arm and row on row, off to Mairi's wedding. |
Subject: Piping for a wedding From: fretless Date: 05 Jan 09 - 12:07 AM My daughter's wedding is coming up later this year. A union of Clans Hunter (groom's father's side) and Donnachaidh/Robertson (my wife's). We have found a piper but need to select appropriate tunes for me to walk my daughter down the aisle, the recessional from the wedding service, and the entry of the newly married couple into the reception. It is an outdoor wedding, by the way, so we're currently thinking Great Pipes for the ceremony at least. The reception is indoors and we may shift to Small Pipes for that. Any suggestions for the three tunes? And before suggesting earplugs for the guests or mutes for the pipes, please bear in mind that the father of the groom and I are both banjo players. Common sense or muzzling the piper is therefore not an option. |
