A bit of trivia about FOUR STRONG WINDS for those who like stuff like that. One of Waylon Jennings'first recordings was FOUR STRONG WINDS recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix, Arizona before he went to Nashville. He played regularly at a club in Scottsdale called JD's. The trivia: There is a trumpet riff on Waylon's FOUR STRONG WINDS record played by a then unknown musician. Herb Alpert, before he established the Tijuana Brass. The 45rpm record is probably a collector's item now.

George, the link works fine for me now. I think Joe or someone must have snuck in there and fixed it. It used to have a " at the end and it doesn't anymore.

I was referring not to Four Strong Winds, but to the "Satisfied Mind" that he was looking for.

Ol' Porter Wagoner and the Wagonmasters did a great version of "Satisfied Mind". in the late 50's or early 60's. Ian Tyson's Four Strong Winds is one of my all time favorites to sing. A great song for the buskin' troupers......

"Satisfied Mind" is by Red Hayes and Jack Rhodes. It was written in 1955 - I would have suspected it was much earlier. I posted the lyrics in this thread (click) and I'm hoping somebody will be able to post the tune.

Jeremiah, sorry but the wording of my post was amgiguous - I simply meant to say that the tune was not in the DT. For better or worse my goal with Mudcat is to add missing tunes whenever I can, and encourage others to do the same. Last time I checked there were still about 3,000 tunes missing. It seems like we're collectively adding many more lyrics than tunes these days.

I hope that at least one person out there didn't previously know the tune to Four Strong Winds.

It is in the database, twice. Go into search by title, and do the alphabetical thing. I seem to recall the chords are: G Am C D7

Satisfied Mind was written by R.Hayes/J.Rhodes, according to my songlist.
