In addition, there is a thriving old time/bluegrass scene in West Wales.

You could try http://www.bluegrasswales.org/links.html for info.

Good place to sing the unquiet grave then? I shall have to remind myself of the words

Lampeter is possibly the only institution in the world to offer an MA in Death Studies. Maybe it has a Keening Society, a Funeral March Band and a Gravedigging Shanty Club?

Not sure what's happening in the town itself. Use to be live music nights (not sessions) in Cwmann, and there's live music in the Cardigan area as well; the Carreg Las Border Morris people would be worth looking up. Aberystwyth is about 25 minutes car journed, and there are sessions there. Devil's Bridge is about as far and there's a montly session there (last I heard).

Lynne Denman of the group Ffynnon lives in Llanybydder and has had the occasional House Concert in her home. She might be worth contacting.

Take a look at the trac site for a variety o relevant things.

Unfortunately the existence of local eisteddfodau do nothing to encourage sessions or anything apart from competitive singing.

try the drop-down menus on cresby.com homepage or my lists on cresby.com RoW list Look for Cas Smith, she covers that side of the principality. Though there are at least 5 sites you can surf to on the drop-down menus.

is Fishguard near enough?

Not sure if this should be bs but I guess someone will move it if necessary.

I'm considering university in Lampeter and wondered i anyone knows if there's much in the way of sessions etc there. It's a tiny place by the look of it, which means it's less likely but if they've had eistedfods (spelling? plural eistedfoddau?) there, it must suggest they're into welsh culture and tradition at least mustn't it? Anyone live around there or pass through recently and know?
