Let's hope the weather is kind. Yes, there's more than one real ale pub - the problem is reaching the bar(s)!

Marsden Imbolc on Facebook

Mr Fox add another dimension to the Fire Festival

If you are in the area aim to arrive at the Goods Yard near Marsden Station before 7PM, stewards will direct you to the start of the procession. There will be lots of people, noise, fire and a dramatic fight between Jack Frost and the Green Man followed by fireworks

and there is a good local real ale pub (if its not too full!)

Yes I have been quite a few times

Sounds very scenic but a bit far away. Heigh-ho. Wish you well.

Would have loved to attend but sadly have previous engagements. Maybe next year?

Have a good one

Rhiannon

Marsden is a large village/small town west of Huddersfield in Pennine West Yorkshire, and has become a bit of a Hebden-Bridge style desirable place to visit in recent years. It's mostly surrounded by glorious moorland and countryside (inc NT-owned Marsden Moor) and has the restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal passing through. It has a few nice cafes and some pubs including the Riverhead Brewery Tap microbrewery/pub. The Tunnel End Inn is the pub above the village on the way to the tunnel end from which the canal and railway emerge/into which they disappear (depending on your perspective). I was going to add a link to the Tunnel End but my PC told me the site had dodgy threats on it.

Jolly Good - it'll probably be on Wednesday in deepest Surrey.

Er, please, where are Marsden and Tunnel End?

Let's see if we can get rid of Winter. The annual Imbolc celebrations are being held at Tunnel End, Marsden this Saturday evening. Come and watch Jack Frost being defeated by the Green Man (or worse the Green Man being defeated!)

There's fire swinging, music, fireworks at Tunnel End and later a show by someone called Mr Fox at the Methodist Church.

Well worth putting your thermals on for.
