The OP asked where everyone had gone and I think they have gone to other chat rooms like Facebook etc. It would be nice to encourage people to use Mudchat as well as other chat rooms; my experience in Mudchat was very positive.

I agree with Artful Codger; I have never had any problems in Mudchat and it would be nice to encourage people to use it. I think that one of the reasons it may not be used as much is because of places like Facebook. I find that I chat to a lot of my friends there.

When I've chatted on Mudchat, the people were always good natured and not at all inclined to disparage others. I doubt that I have been just freakishly fortunate. So why air past grievances and discourage newer folks from joining in what appears to be a much friendlier environment these days?

BTW... I have pages and pages... I even have voice recordings... MP3 files of overseas telephone calls I received. It's absolutely unreal... seriously, beyond reality... all because someone did not like who I chatted with on the interNUTcase.

Mudchat is great. As long as people are civil. I miss it.

Indeed. And I am at the centre of it. Allow me to explain.

Long ago and far away, in a cyberspace near and dear to many Mudcatters, a shitstrorm arose between Mudchatters because some Mudchatters did not approve of other Mudchatters chatting to some Mudchatters that those Mudchatters did not like. I took offense and refused to be told who I could associate with. I was assailed and then began to copy all of the Mudchat sessions in which I was assailed.

After I had copied a NUMBER of such sessions, in order to defend myself and my friends from their inane bullshit, I posted that I had copied them. The assailants then were aghast and whooped loudly, "gnu is a "copier"!!! How dare he!!! WE are not SAFE from this monster!!!"

That was their cry until Max said he could read back on ALL the sessions, ALL the posts, ALL the crap that was spewed. The people involved in assailing me AND my friends, to the point of LIBEL and SLANDER, for absolutely NO good reason, have not been in Mudchat or posted much at all at The Café for quite some time. Gee... I wonder why eh?

Sadly, they brought about the demise of Mudchat by their vile ignorant hate mongering. The last post I read in this thread was from skarpi. One of the most gentle people I have ever met in cyberspace. HE is one of my friends they attacked... for NO reason.

I could tell you more stories but I think that's enough.

Mudchat can be great again... now that people know they can be held accountable for their posts. Fact is, it was my fault. I stood up for myself and my friends on the internut and the nuts shut Mudchat down.

If ya wanna bring Mudcaht up again, do it. I'm keen. Just not keen on interNUTS.
